The defending IPL champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, are once again displaying their dominance in IPL 2026. Having won three of their first four matches, the team currently sits in third place on the points table. All the players appear to be in fine form, and the team looks like a strong contender to defend its title. However, RCB recently suffered a major setback when their star batsman, Virat Kohli, did not take the field for fielding duties during the previous match due to a precautionary measure regarding an ankle issue and general illness. This incident sparked speculation regarding the severity of Virat's injury.

Furthermore, ahead of the upcoming match against the Lucknow Super Giants, another video of Virat Kohli went viral; in it, Virat was seen with a bandage on his leg during a training session, leading to concerns that he may not be fully fit. In a video posted by LSG's social media handle, Virat was seen meeting Kane Williamson, a part of LSG's support staff and LSG skipper Rishabh Pant, while wearing a bandage on his leg. This comes amid reports that Virat is facing a leg injury scare.

However, he also practised batting in the nets. In 4 matches during the IPL 2026 so far, Virat Kohli has scored 179 runs at an average of 59.66 with a strike rate of 162.72, with two fifties and a best score of 69*. During the previous match against arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI), Virat had scored a 38-ball 50, with five fours and a six and did not look at his fluent best.

According to certain reports, Virat is fully recovered and scheduled to play on April 15 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru against the Lucknow Super Giants. RCB defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings handily to begin their IPL 2026 campaign. They then suffered a defeat to the Rajasthan Royals. They did, however, get back on track after defeating their bitter rivals, the Mumbai Indians. The Lucknow Super Giants, on the other hand, are an unpredictable team. Out of four games, they have won two and lost two. Rishabh and company must play their A+ game to defeat the knowledgeable RCB; if they don't, RCB won't give them a chance.
