Unbroken: Unmukt Chand’s life story set to hit screens as a documentary
A rising star that vanished before lighting up the sky. While this description rings true for many players, none fits more accurately than Unmukt Chand. The Delhi youngster shot onto the scene as he spearheaded the U-19 Men's Team to World Cup glory in 2012. The batsman, with his flair and eye-catching skills, was touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket. Just a teenager then, Chand was already on his way to booking a spot in the senior men's team as he arrived in the IPL first. However, it all unraveled soon. A string of disappointing performances in the IPL saw Unmukt Chand losing out on his promised national spot.
Unmukt Chand’s life and cricket journey set to be portrayed in a documentary this September
The youngster faded swiftly away from the scene. Unlike many players who managed to turn things around, Chand never got a chance to return to the setup. The U-19 captain, who hit a century in the World Cup final against Australia to lift the trophy, shifted bases. The Indian batter went to the USA in a bid to re-enter the senior setup. However, Chand, anticipated to be named in the USA squad for the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, missed out on the elusive opportunity there too.
Now, as Unmukt Chand continues to showcase his abilities in league cricket, his inspiring yet hard story is coming up on the screens. The cricketer's life journey has been scripted as a documentary film, Unbroken: The Unmukt Chand Story. Directed by Raghav Khanna and helmed by Riverland Entertainment and Tudip Entertainment, the documentary is set for a September 12 release. The production has partnered with PVR to take Unmukt's story to the Indian masses.
“Unmukt’s story is not just limited to cricket. It is a story of rising from broken dreams, showing courage, and finding a second chance in life. His journey connects with every person who does not lose hope despite difficulties," Raghav Khanna, the film's director, said about the upcoming release.

Coming up right amid the Indian domestic season, the Unmukt Chand story is an attempt at showcasing the struggles faced by promising stars trying to break out on the scene. The 32-year-old cricketer, meanwhile, was last seen in action at the MAX60 Caribbean League after he capped off the 2025 season of Major League Cricket with Los Angeles Knight Riders.
