Indian cricket’s most treasured asset right now, Jasprit Bumrah, is currently the world’s best fast bowler and ranks number one in ICC’s Test bowling rankings. His numbers in Test cricket are jaw-dropping. After playing 48 Test matches for India, Jasprit Bumrah averages an astonishing 19.82 with 219 wickets under his name. He has picked 15 five-wicket hauls. Bumrah has played 12 Tests against Australia, 17 Tests against England, and eight Tests against South Africa. Out of 219 wickets, he has picked 176 wickets against these three nations. Getting more than fifty percent of his total number of wickets against these top three Test-playing nations is a testament to his class and supremacy in Test cricket.

There is no denying that he had a rollicking start to his Test cricket career. He began his Test series career in South Africa, then played a series in England, and then toured Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. It took him just these three tours to show the world what he was capable of. He was India’s second-highest wicket-taker in South Africa with 14 wickets in three Tests and also picked his first Test five-for. He then traveled to England and took 14 wickets in three Tests, including one five-wicket haul. In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah was the highest wicket-taker with 21 wickets to his name.

In the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, he has once again ended the series with 14 wickets in three Tests, this time with two five-wicket hauls, and again ended the series as India’s second highest wicket-taker.

In this article, let’s take a look at the top three batters Jasprit Bumrah has dismissed the most:

1. Joe Root - 11 times in 29 innings

Joe Root is the world’s finest batter in Test cricket right now. Over the last half-decade or so, he has been piling on runs like a machine. Joe Root recently surpassed greats to become the second-highest run-scorer in Test cricket, now only behind the master Sachin Tendulkar. That being said, whenever Joe Root has faced Jasprit Bumrah, he has never felt at ease. Bumrah has always troubled him with disciplined lengths and sharp movement. Bumrah has, in fact, got Joe Root out the most times in Test cricket. The two came face to face in 29 innings, with Root scoring 333 runs at an average of 30.27. Bumrah has dismissed Root 11 times in Test cricket.

2. Pat Cummins - 8 times in 15 innings

Pat Cummins is among the world’s best fast bowlers, but you can’t discount his prowess with the bat. Cummins has often stepped up for Australia, providing valuable knocks while batting down the order. He has three half-centuries in Test cricket and has scored more than 1500 runs. Cummins, though, has had a tough time facing Bumrah and understandably so. In 15 innings, he has scored just 55 runs at an average of 6.87. Jasprit Bumrah has dismissed him eight times in Test cricket.

3. Travis Head: 6 times in 16 innings

Travis Head loves playing against India. He has often taken the games away from India, especially in big-ticket encounters. Head scored a sensational 163 runs knock in the World Test Championship final 2023 against India and also took the game away in the 2023 World Cup final which was the most disappointing cricket update for the Indian fans. Head has been a valuable asset for Australia in Test cricket for a long time now. However, Bumrah has also managed to get the better of him on numerous occasions. Head is known for playing an attacking brand of cricket, but his average and strike rate against Bumrah stand at 22 and 60, respectively. Bumrah has dismissed him 6 times in Test cricket in 16 innings.
