The Punjab Kings (PBKS) have almost sealed a spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025 Playoffs) with a sensational 10-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 59th match of the competition hosted at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. It was a brilliant all-round effort from the Punjab Kings' batting and bowling departments to overshadow the home team in their den. With this emphatic victory, the Punjab Kings have claimed a total of 8 victories from their 12 matches in the ongoing edition of the T20 tournament and have accumulated as many as 17 points in their kitty.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Punjab Kings did not had the best of starts as they ended up losing three big wickets in the form of Priyansh Arya, Mitchell Owen and Prabhsimran Singh with just 34 runs on the scoreboard. Nehal Wadhera then batted beautifully well to bail the Punjab Kings out of trouble as he stitched a couple of impressive half-century partnerships with skipper Shreyas Iyer and Shashank Singh. The southpaw batter smashed a fantastic knock of 70 runs off just 37 deliveries that included 5 sixes and as many fours. 

Shashank Singh also contributed with an excellent unbeaten innings of 59 runs off 31 balls that consisted of 5 fours and 3 sixes while Azmatullah Omarzai played an exciting cameo of 21 runs off just 9 balls to help the Punjab Kings finish with a massive total of 219 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. 

Jaiswal-Suryavanshi set the tempo for Rajasthan Royals in the run-chase

In the massive run-chase, the Rajasthan Royals got off to an exceptional start at the top as the opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi went all guns blazing from the very first over. Jaiswal smacked a total of 22 runs in the opening over of the chase bowled by left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh. The Rajasthan Royals had a wonderful powerplay having scored a total of 89 runs in the first six overs. 

The Rajasthan Royals openers provided a solid foundation with an impressive partnership of 76 runs in just 4.5 overs. Suryavanshi notched up a quick-fire knock of 40 runs off just 15 deliveries that included 4 sixes and as many fours. On the other hand, Jaiswal smashed a superb half-century knock off only 25 balls that consisted of 9 fours and 1 six.

For the Punjab Kings, it was left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar who completely turned the tables while coming in as an Impact Player in the second innings. He ended up picking three crucial wickets of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag to choke the opposition. Towards the end, the duo of Azmatullah Omarzai and Marco Jansen also took two wickets each to help Punjab Kings claim a famous 10-run victory.
