The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have finally ended their losing streak in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season with a sensational 33-run victory over the Gujarat Titans (GT) on Thursday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This is the first win for the Lucknow Super Giants in their last five matches this season while this is the first defeat for the Gujarat Titans in their last four games. However, Lucknow Super Giants have already been knocked out from the race to qualify for the IPL 2025 playoffs, but they have registered their sixth win in the ongoing edition of the tournament. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans are occupying the top spot on the table and they still have a chance to finish the league stage as one of the top two sides.

Mitchell Marsh hundred headlines the GT vs LSG IPL 2025 clash

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Lucknow Super Giants once again got off to an amazing start as both their openers, Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram attacked the opposition bowlers from the word go. The LSG opening duo stitched an impressive partnership of 91 runs before Markram was dismissed by left-arm spinner Sai Kishore. However, Mitchell Marsh continued the demolition work and went on to smash his maiden IPL century off just 56 balls. He also became the first overseas batter to score a century in the Indian Premier League 2025 season. Eventually, the Aussie cricketer ended up composing a wonderful innings of 117 runs off only 64 deliveries that consisted of 10 fours and 8 sixes.

Pooran, Pant's phenomenal finish powers LSG to a massive score of 235 runs

Nicholas Pooran has been in a fantastic form especially while finishing matches in the ongoing edition of the T20 tournament. Pooran notched up a brilliant unbeaten knock of 56 runs off 27 balls that included 5 sixes and 4 fours while skipper Rishabh Pant also played a cameo of 16 runs off only 6 balls to help the Lucknow Super Giants finish with a massive score of 235 runs on the scoreboard. This is the third highest total for the Lucknow Super Giants in the history of the Indian Premier League

LSG bowlers finally come to the party to pull back the Titans

Just like the previous game against Delhi Capitals, it seemed initially that the Gujarat Titans' openers Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan would once again do well at the top. However, the LSG bowlers came back strongly after the opening partnership of 46 runs, as they removed the in-form trio of Gill, Sudharsan and Jos Buttler inside the first 10 overs. It was a huge test for the Gujarat Titans middle-order and the duo of Sherfane Rutherford and Shahrukh Khan fought really well while adding a total of 86 runs for the fourth wicket stand.

However, LSG pacer William ORourke bowled extremely well in the middle-overs picking three crucial wickets of Sai Sudharsan, Sherfane Rutherford and Rahul Tewatia. Avesh Khan injected the final nail in the coffin by dismissing Shahrukh in the 19th over after the right-hander played a superb innings of 57 runs that went in vain as Gujarat Titans were eventually restricted at 202 for 9 in their 20 overs.
