The Hundred 2025 Final: Ball hits stumps but zing bail stays on; batter can’t believe her luck
Southern Brave did not lose a single game in the group stage of the Women’s Hundred 2025 competition. However, Northern Superchargers dashed their hopes of lifting their second title after beating them in the final by seven wickets. Meanwhile, “Zing bails” once again became a topic of debate after a controversial moment happened during the second innings in the clash. With 19 runs needed off the final 25 balls, Lauren Bell was brought on to bowl. She bowled a pretty good over, giving away just three runs in his five deliveries.
The final ball of the over saw Bell producing a beautiful nip-backer that came back in sharply. Sutherland was beaten all ends up as the ball went between his bat and pad. As the ball reached the keeper, both Southby and Lauren Bell appealed. The umpires, however, remained unmoved. The bowler thought that she had bowled Sutherland, but the zing bail didn’t fall off despite the ball hitting the stumps. Annabell Sutherland, the batter, also couldn’t believe her luck.

Northern Superchargers lift maiden The Women’s Hundred competition title
Annabel Sutherland (28) and Nicola Carey (35) remained unbeaten and carried their team home in 88 deliveries. Northern Superchargers took revenge for the 2023 edition’s final defeat after defeating Southern Brave by seven wickets. The Superchargers exhibited a complete performance, outclassing their opponents in all departments. The Superchargers kept picking wickets in short intervals, which didn’t allow the Southern Brave to build momentum in their innings. They ended up posting 115/6 in the first innings.
Kate Cross and Annabel Sutherland were the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets each. Northern Superchargers lost three for 59 in pursuit of the target, but an unbeaten 60-run partnership between Annabel and Nicola Carey meant they chased down the target quite comfortably. With that win, the Superchargers lifted their maiden Women’s Hundred title. Oval Invincibles are the most successful team in the competition with two titles to their name.
