Pitch Report: Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad

The world’s largest capacity stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, has hosted 6 matches in the T20 World Cup 2026 so far. In these games, the team batting first won 4 matches, while the chasing side won twice. India played two matches here in this tournament —  against the Netherlands and South Africa, in which they won against the Netherlands. While New Zealand also played their group stage match here against South Africa, where they suffered a 7-wicket defeat. The toss could play a crucial role on this ground. The team that wins the toss may prefer to bowl first. However, if a team bats first, it will need to put up a big total to stay competitive.

IND vs NZ: Probable Playing XIs

Although the Indian team managed to reach the final, it is certainly true that Team India has some shortcomings, with the biggest concern being the recent form of Abhishek Sharma and Varun Chakaravarthy. It is expected that Kuldeep Yadav may be included in the playing XI in place of Varun Chakaravarthy in the final. On the other hand, the New Zealand team may field the same playing XI.

Predicted India playing XI

Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Varun Chakaravarthy/Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah

Predicted New Zealand playing XI

Tim Seifert (wk), Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner ©, Cole McConchie, Lockie Ferguson, Matt Henry

Players to watch out for in the IND vs NZ final

Abhishek Sharma (India)

Abhishek Sharma has been quiet throughout this T20 World Cup 2026. In seven matches so far, he has scored just 89 runs at an average of 12.71 and a strike rate of 130, including a lone half-century against Zimbabwe. He will definitely want to put this failure behind him and play a big innings in the final. If Abhishek scores runs in the final, fans will forget all his failures so far. He will have a golden opportunity to prove himself in the World Cup final.

Jasprit Bumrah (India)

No matter the pitch, no matter the conditions, whenever the Indian team find themselves in trouble while bowling, all eyes are on just one player: Jasprit Bumrah. Bowling at an economy rate of just 6.30 in the tournament so far, Bumrah has taken 10 wickets. He will be looking to continue this performance in the final as well. In a real sense, the real burden of stopping New Zealand's stormy batting line-up will rest on Bumrah's shoulders.
