The 10th edition of the T20 World Cup will run from February 7 to March 8. The hosts, India, are looking like the favourites, while Australia, South Africa, and New Zealand are looking like big contenders. Meanwhile, no one considered England a real contender this time due to their recent performances. However, the last time India hosted a T20 World Cup, England was the runner-up of the tournament. If Carlos Brathwaite hadn't hit four consecutive sixes in that World Cup final, England would be the most successful team in T20 World Cup history today. England has already won the 2010 & 2022 editions of the T20 World Cup.

Although England’s recent performances were not so good, it doesn’t mean top teams take them lightly. Under Harry Brook’s captaincy, England played 10 matches, in which they won 7 matches and lost only 1 game, while 2 matches ended with no result. Recently, they won the T20I series against Sri Lanka, which showcased that they are fully prepared for the tournament.

England has announced a balanced squad for the T20 World Cup 2026. Besides captain Harry Brook, the team boasts explosive batsmen like Ben Duckett, Phil Salt, Tom Banton, and the experienced Jos Buttler, who have the ability to put opposing bowlers on the back foot from the very first ball. In addition, there are all-rounders like Jacob Bethell, Will Jacks, Rehan Ahmed, Sam Curran, and Jamie Overton, who strengthen England in both the batting and bowling departments. The bowling attack will be led by Jofra Archer, supported by Josh Tongue and Luke Wood. For the spin department, the team has selected the experienced Adil Rashid.

The England team will have to select their playing XI carefully, keeping the conditions in mind. The opening batting responsibilities will rest on the experienced batsmen Jos Buttler and Phil Salt. In the middle order, Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, and captain Harry Brook will be expected to accelerate the scoring.  Sam Curran and Will Jacks will be responsible for finishing the innings. Adil Rashid will be the main spinner in the team, supported by Jacob Bethell. The fast bowling attack will be led by Jofra Archer, Josh Tongue, and Jamie Overton.

It will be fascinating to watch the England team management include Ben Duckett in the playing XI. If he plays, Jos Buttler could be seen batting at number 3. Meanwhile, either Tom Banton or Jacob Bethell might have to be dropped from the team.

England is kept in group C along with another 2-time champion, West Indies, Italy, Nepal and Scotland. They will start their campaign against Nepal on February 08. Following this, they faced the West Indies on February 11, Scotland on February 14, and Italy on February 16. Harry Brook & side are looking strong, and if they play to their potential, they will have to go easily to the Super 8 round. While they will have to play their best game to reach the top 4 and finals.
