Throughout history, whenever an ICC tournament is held, it's impossible for Australia not to be among the top contenders. The 10th edition of the T20 World Cup is set to begin on February 7th in India and Sri Lanka, and once again, Australia is aiming to assert its dominance in world cricket. The last time India hosted an ICC tournament, it was Australia that silenced a crowd of over 100,000 to claim the title, and they will be hoping to repeat that historic feat.

The Australian team will be looking to break the myth this time that they are considered somewhat weaker in T20Is compared to Tests and ODIs. In the nine editions played so far, Australia has only managed to win the T20 World Cup title once in 2021. Australia has announced a balanced squad. But the team is also going with a couple of major injury concerns. Recently, they faced a 0-3 whitewash against Pakistan in a 3-match T20I series. Despite this, no team can afford to take Australia lightly in a tournament like the World Cup. Everyone knows that Australia delivers its best performance in ICC tournaments.

The Australian team possesses a formidable batting lineup, featuring explosive batsmen like Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Cameron Green, and Josh Inglis. All of these batsmen have the ability to win matches single-handedly. However, the team's bowling attack is somewhat weaker, meaning the batsmen will always need to score extra runs to compensate for the bowlers. Australia is kept in group B along with co-host Sri Lanka, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Oman. Based on the potential of their players, this team should comfortably reach the Super 8 and even the top four.

For Australia, Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh will open the innings. At 3, wicket-keeper batter Josh Inglis will feature, who scored 575 runs in 20 innings, including 2 centuries & 2 half-centuries. The team has a solid middle order, where Cameron Green, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, and Tim David, like explosive batters, are involved. All of them have the potential to finish the match single-handedly. In the spin department, the team has Adam Zampa, who will play an important role in the spin-friendly conditions. Glenn Maxwell will contribute to him as the second spin option.

In the pace department, Josh Hazlewood will lead the attack with Nathan Ellis and Xavier Bartlett. The Aussies definitely will miss the services of Pat Cummins (out due to injury) and Mitchell Starc (retired from T20Is) in the ICC upcoming matches, but they still have Josh Hazlewood in the squad. However, he is also expected to miss the first few matches due to fitness-related issues. Without Hazlewood, Australia’s bowling attack would lack experience and skew too young.

Apart from them, this team also includes Matt Renshaw, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis, and Matthew Kuhnemann, who all had outstanding performances in the recently concluded Big Bash League.
