T20 World Cup 2026: Check out the list of India upcoming matches
After a dominating 61-run victory over archrivals Pakistan, the Indian team has confirmed their spot in the Super-8 in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026. At R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, after being invited to bat first, India posted 175 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Ishan Kishan played a brilliant 77 runs in 40 balls. While skipper Suryakumar Yadav scored 32, Shivam Dube scored 27, and Tilak Varma contributed 25. On the other side, for Pakistan, Saim Ayub took the most, 3 wickets. In response, Pakistan were bundled out on just 114 runs in 18 overs. Usman Khan scored 44 runs, while Shaheen Afridi contributed 23 runs. For India, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya took 2-2 wickets.
Now, India has confirmed their place in the Super-8. In contrast, Pakistan needs to defeat Namibia in their last group stage match to ensure their spot in the Super 8. However, if Namibia defeats Pakistan, Salman Agha & side would once again be eliminated from the group stage.
The second phase of the tournament begins on February 21st. The top two teams from each of the four groups in the group stage will qualify. However, there is considerable confusion regarding which team will play against which in this phase. It should be noted that the ICC has already pre-seeded the teams. India will play their last group stage match against the Netherlands at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The result will not affect India's Super 8 matches because the schedule has already been set.
India has been marked as “X1,” and they were kept along with the West Indies, Australia, and South Africa in the Super 8 stage. The West Indies have already qualified for the Super 8. While South Africa is also almost certain to reach the Super 8. However, Australia lost against Zimbabwe, due to which Australia is in danger of getting eliminated from the group stage itself. If Australia fails to qualify for Super 8, then whichever team qualifies in their place (probably Zimbabwe) will replace Australia in Super 8.
Pre-assigned seeding for the T20 World Cup 2026
X1 - India, X2 - Australia, X3 - West Indies, X4 - South Africa
Y1 - England, Y2 - New Zealand, Y3 - Pakistan, Y4 - Sri Lanka
India will start their Super 8 campaign against X4 (most likely South Africa) at Ahmedabad on February 22, Sunday. South Africa has already won their first three matches and is just waiting for an official qualification announcement. Aiden Markram & Co. can still make it out of the group stage, but for that to happen, New Zealand will have to beat Canada by a big margin in their last match, while the UAE will also have to beat Afghanistan and South Africa by a big margin, which is very unlikely.
Following this, Suryakumar Yadav & side will enter the field on January 26 against Australia or Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe made Group B even more exciting by defeating Australia. Now, to reach the Super 8, Australia will not only have to win their next two matches but also rely on the results of Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka’s remaining fixtures. If Australia fails to qualify for the Super 8, it would be the biggest upset in T20 World Cup history.
India will play their last Super 8 match in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 against the West Indies at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on March 1. The West Indies has already qualified for the Super-8s. They have defeated England, Nepal, and Scotland. They will face Italy on February 19 in their last group match.
India’s Super 8 matches schedule
