Palash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana’s highly anticipated wedding has been postponed indefinitely following an unexpected medical emergency in the Mandhana family. The couple had planned to get married in Sangli on November 23, with close friends and relatives set to attend the ceremony. However, celebrations came to an abrupt halt when Smriti’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, was hospitalised on the very day of the wedding. Given the seriousness of the situation and the family’s need to focus on his health, the ceremony was put on hold, with a new date yet to be decided. In the midst of these developments, Smriti’s close friend and Indian teammate, Jemimah Rodrigues, made a heartfelt decision.

Jemimah, who had been participating in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), chose to withdraw from the remainder of the season. Her decision was driven by her desire to remain by Smriti’s side during this emotionally challenging period and offer her full support as the cricketer navigates both personal stress and her father’s recovery. Jemimah’s gesture reflects the deep bond shared between the two players, going beyond the cricket field. Her withdrawal from the WBBL not only underscores her loyalty and friendship but also highlights the strong sense of togetherness within the Indian women’s cricket community.

Suniel Shetty shared a heartfelt reaction to Jemimah Rodrigues’ decision to stand by Smriti Mandhana during a difficult time. Reposting a newspaper snippet about Jemimah’s withdrawal from the WBBL, the actor expressed how deeply the gesture moved him. He wrote, “Bumped into this article first thing in the morning and my heart felt full. Jemimah leaving the WBBL to be by Smriti’s side. No big statements, just quiet solidarity. This is what real teammates do. Simple. Straight. Genuine.”

According to reports, Smriti Mandhana’s father was rushed to the hospital after experiencing symptoms similar to a heart attack, prompting immediate concern within the family. Fortunately, after undergoing medical evaluation and receiving timely care, he was declared stable and later discharged. The sudden health scare came as a shock, especially since it occurred on the very day Smriti was scheduled to get married, forcing the family to halt all wedding preparations and focus entirely on his recovery.

Adding to the emotional strain, Smriti’s groom-to-be, Palash Muchhal, also fell ill the following day and had to be admitted to a hospital. His condition was reportedly linked to a viral infection and stress-induced acidity. With both families dealing with simultaneous medical emergencies, plans underwent significant rearrangement. While Smriti and her relatives remained in Sangli to monitor her father’s condition, the Muchhal family transported Palash back to Mumbai to ensure he received appropriate and timely treatment. These unexpected events have caused great anxiety for both families and led to the indefinite postponement of the wedding. For now, the focus remains entirely on health and recovery, with wedding decisions likely to be revisited only once both men are fully well.
