Strongest KKR playing XI for IPL 2026
Three-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders are considered one of the best teams in IPL history. In terms of titles, they stand behind Chennai Super Kings (5 titles) and Mumbai Indians (5 titles). In IPL 2026, Kolkata will aim to win their fourth title.
KKR bought the most players in the IPL 2026 auction and added some big names to their squad, including overseas players like Tim Seifert, Finn Allen, Rachin Ravindra, Cameron Green, Mathisa Patheerana, and Blessing Muzarabani. Apart from this, the team also managed to add Rahul Tripathi, Akash Deep, Indian capped players, and talented uncapped players like Karthik Tyagi, Daksh Kamra, Sarthak Ranjan, Prashant Solanki, and Tejaswi Singh to their squad.
The team already has batsmen like Captain Ajinkya Rahane, Manish Pandey, Rovman Powell, Rinku Singh, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and after the auction, KKR's batting lineup looks quite strong. The team's all-rounder department will have Cameron Green, whom KKR bought for a whopping sum of 25 crores. Apart from this, match-winning all-rounders like Sunil Narine, Rachin Ravindra, and Ramandeep Singh are also present.
The team has also done a lot of work on its bowling line-up this time. The team has Varun Chakravarthy, Vaibhav Arora, Karthik Tyagi, Akash Deep, Umran Malik, Harshit Rana, and Matheesha Pathirana. Harshit and Pathirana will not be available for the starting phase, which is a topic of concern for this team. But they have a couple of good bowlers, who can hurt the opposition batting line-up.
It will be very fascinating to watch how the Kolkata Knight Riders management will make their playing XI, because they have a lot of options. There are options of Sunil Narine, Tim Seifert, and Finn Allen; it remains to be seen which two players from these three will be seen opening. If some reports are to be believed, then both the openers of the New Zealand T20 team, Tim Seifert and Finn Allen, will open, and Narine may have to be kept out of the playing XI. But Narine also gives a spin bowling option. In such a situation, keeping Narine out may prove costly for KKR, a surprise when the team does not already have Harshit Rana and Matheesa Pathirana.
At 3, skipper Ajinkya Rahane would bat. In the middle order, Cameron Green, Rinku Singh, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, and Rovman Powell will feature. If Sunil Narine plays, then he will open. In this case, one of Tim Seifert or Finn Allen will sit on the bench.
In the bowling department, Varun Chakaravarthy will be the frontline spinner. While Sunil Narine will support him, on the other hand. Akash Deep, Vaibhav Arora, and Karthik Tyagi will be the pacers in the initial phase. After Harshit Rana and Matheesa Pathirana’s return, the team combination will be changed.
KKR will start their campaign against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on March 29 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Then, they will fly to their home ground, Eden Gardens, Kolkata, to play against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 2, the Punjab Kings on April 6, and the Lucknow Super Giants on April 9.
