For instance, if rain causes a delay but the lost time is fully made up later that day through extended play, then there is no net time lost and the reserve day remains unused. Conversely, if a day is completely washed out and only a portion of that lost time—say three hours—is made up over the remaining days, the net loss in playing time would necessitate the use of the reserve day.
