Sourav Ganguly urges selectors to include Auqib Nabi in Indian team
Jammu & Kashmir is currently on the verge of becoming the Ranji Trophy Champion. On February 28, 2026, this team will win the maiden Ranji Trophy title. And the biggest hand in achieving this title is Auqib Nabi Dar, who has taken 60 wickets in 10 matches of this season, including seven 5-wicket hauls. He also took a fifer in the finals against Karnataka at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground in Hubballi. Thanks to his incredible performance, he was also acquired by the Delhi Capitals for 8.4 CR INR for the IPL 2026.
Seeing his brilliant performance, there is now a demand to see him in the Indian team also. Former Indian skipper & BCCI president Sourav Ganguly also praised Nabi’s performance. According to him, Nabi should be selected for India in the upcoming matches. He urged the chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar, to consider Nabi in the national team. Furthermore, he stated that he should get a chance in the England tour.
“J&K has shown the world what effort and intent can do...They have made that region so proud of them...A tough environment makes tough people. Aqib Nabi is on his way to national colors... England is the place to start in the summer @bcci @imAagarkar @lonsaikia,” Ganguly wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Nabi caught everyone's attention with his performance in the final match. On the same pitch where Karnataka bowlers had to bowl 173.1 overs to bowl out Jammu Kashmir, he took 5 wickets for 54 runs in 23 overs. Batting first, Jammu Kashmir scored 584 runs in their first innings. In reply, Karnataka was all out for 293 runs in their first innings. Thus, Jammu Kashmir got a lead of 291 runs on the basis of the first innings.
He dismissed KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, and Karun Nair as great test batters. With his seventh five-wicket haul, Nabi's wicket tally in the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season rose to 60. He is just the third pacer in the Ranji Trophy's 92-year history to claim 60 wickets in a single season.
