India’s World Cup-winning cricketer Smriti Mandhana received positive news on Monday morning as her father, Shrinivas Mandhana, was discharged from the hospital after a brief but concerning stay. He had been admitted on November 23 in Sangli, the very day Smriti was set to marry musician and filmmaker Palash Muchhal. The sudden medical situation created understandable anxiety within the family, especially given the significance of the occasion, but swift medical attention ensured his condition was brought under control. According to an India TV report, Shrinivas Mandhana is now completely stable and safely out of danger. Doctors conducted a thorough evaluation, including an angiography, to rule out any serious cardiac issues. Fortunately, no blockages were detected, providing much-needed relief to the family.

His recovery and subsequent discharge indicate that the situation was managed effectively and that he is on the path to regaining full health. The reassuring update has brought comfort not only to Smriti’s family but also to her fans, who had expressed concern after hearing about the hospitalization. With Shrinivas now recovering well, the family can focus on returning to normalcy following an emotionally intense few days that coincided with an important milestone in Smriti’s life.

The wedding was postponed indefinitely after an unexpected medical emergency struck the Mandhana family. The celebration, which was to mark a significant moment in Smriti Mandhana’s life, had to be put on hold as the family shifted its focus entirely to her father Shrinivas Mandhana’s health. Earlier, Smriti’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, confirmed that Shrinivas’ condition worsened suddenly while he was having breakfast, prompting immediate medical attention. The abrupt deterioration understandably caused concern and required the family to prioritize his well-being over the planned ceremony. With his health now stabilizing, the family can take time to recover from the stressful episode before making any decisions regarding the rescheduling of the wedding.

“Today in the morning, when Smriti's father was having breakfast, his health deteriorated. We waited for a bit, thinking he would get fine. But when it deteriorated further, we called for an ambulance and took him to the hospital, and he is under observation,” stated Tuhin Mishra.

For those unaware, Smriti Mandhana’s groom-to-be, Palash Muchhal, was also admitted to a Mumbai hospital shortly after Shrinivas Mandhana was taken ill. Palash reportedly contracted a viral infection and experienced severe acidity brought on by stress surrounding the situation. Thankfully, his condition improved quickly, and he was discharged soon after. With both families dealing with simultaneous medical concerns, Smriti is believed to have called off the wedding ceremony to focus on her father’s recovery and overall well-being.

On the cricketing front, Smriti has enjoyed an outstanding run of form. She finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the 2025 Women’s World Cup, amassing 434 runs in nine innings. Her performances came at an impressive strike rate of 99.08 and an average of 54.25, including two half-centuries and a superb century. Her consistency and leadership have been widely praised, and she was recently retained by Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) ahead of the 2026 Women’s Premier League mega auction.
