Gujarat Titans opener Sai Sudharsan continued to make heads turn with his outstanding performances in the Indian Premier League 2025. In the ongoing clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium, he etched his name in the history books by becoming the fastest Indian batter to reach 2000 runs in T20 cricket. Before the game against SRH, Sudharsan had 1968 runs to his name across 53 innings. He reached the 2000-run mark in his 54th innings against Sunrisers Hyderabad, today. The record was previously held by Sachin Tendulkar, who reached the milestone in 59 innings.

Overall, Sai Sudharsan is now the second-fastest batter to reach 2000 T20 runs in world cricket. Shaun Marsh currently holds the top spot, having reached the landmark in 53 innings. Meanwhile, the GT opener played another solid knock of 48 runs in 23 balls in the 51st match of the IPL 2025 against SRH.

After being sent into bat first, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, once again, made an outstanding start to the innings. After assessing the conditions in the first two overs, Sudharsan shifted gears and upped the ante. He smashed Mohammed Shami for as many as five fours in the third over and followed it up with four fours off Harshal Patel in the fifth.

Courtesy of another fine start, Gujarat Titans blazed away to 82 for no loss at the end of the powerplay. Unfortunately, Sai Sudharsan couldn’t complete his half-century as Zeeshan dismissed him for 48 off just 23 balls.

Sai Sudharsan has been in outstanding form in the ongoing edition of IPL. Before the start of the game, he held the orange cap with 504 runs in 10 innings at 50.40. With five half-centuries this season, the southpaw is also pushing his case for the Indian team in the upcoming tournament.

Meanwhile, Gujarat Titans currently occupy the fourth spot on the points table with six wins in nine matches. A win against SRH today by a significant margin can help them take the top spot on the ladder.
