Given what Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has achieved at the tender age of just 15, it is only natural that he is now being viewed as the future of the Indian cricket team. By scoring 776 runs in the 2026 IPL, he has captivated not only the fans but also former cricketers, and demands for his inclusion in Team India have already begun.

Sooryavanshi scored 776 runs in 16 matches at an average of 48.50 and a strike rate of 237.31 and became the highest run getter of the tournament. Throughout the entire tournament, he smashed a total of 72 sixes, breaking Chris Gayle's record of 59 sixes in a single season. He claimed the Orange Cap (776 runs), the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Season award, the Emerging Player of the Season award, the Super Striker of the Season award (237.3), and the Super Sixes of the Season award (72). In the Eliminator, he smashed 97 off 29 balls and followed it up with a 47-ball 96 in Qualifier 2.

Even the "God of Cricket," Sachin Tendulkar, has now become an admirer of his magnificent batting. The 'Master Blaster' stated that 'Sooryavanshi's' impact on matches extended far beyond the runs he scored. According to Tendulkar, opposing teams had to devise specific strategies to dismiss him, and fans eagerly awaited his batting.

"Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had an influence on games that went beyond the runs he scored. Oppositions were thinking about him, teams were planning for him, and fans were waiting for him long before he arrived at the crease," Tendulkar wrote in a Reddit post.

"His ability to score rapidly in both the Eliminator and the Qualifier showed that his intent remained unchanged, even as the pressure increased. More importantly, his batting seemed to give Rajasthan Royals an added sense of belief every time he walked out to the middle," the highest run-scorer in international cricket added.

Glimpses of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's magnificent performance were not limited to the IPL 2026 alone. Earlier in the year, during the ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in Zimbabwe, he amassed 439 runs—a tally that included a spectacular innings of 175 runs off just 80 balls in the final match. He smashed a century and 3 half-centuries during the tournament. Furthermore, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been delivering outstanding performances in the Ranji Trophy 2025/26 and other domestic cricket tournaments. According to reports, he may be handed his debut cap during the upcoming three-match T20I series on the tour of Ireland.
