Following the massive defeats in the T20I series against Ireland and England, it is speculated that one of the coaching staff would be sacked. Now, reports indicate that Ryan Ten Doeschate, India’s assistant coach, want to leave his role and has already informed about his decision to BCCI. The reason behind his decision is unfulfilled promises. However, the Indian team management is currently discussing with Ten Doeschate to retain him.

As per reports, Ryan Ten Doeschate wants to return to the IPL as a coach and has had a positive discussion with an IPL franchise; he has even accepted the role as a coach. Doeschate could be added as fielding coach after T Dilip was supposed to be removed along with Abhishek Nayar, Soham Desai, and Arun Kanade after the Champions Trophy 2025.

However, T Dilip got a year extension due to a strong recommendation by a senior Indian player. As a result, Doeschate has continued in his role without a clearly defined area of responsibility.

“Dilip was supposed to be removed along with Abhishek Nayar (assistant coach), Soham Desai (S&C coach) and Arun Kanade (masseur) after the 2025 Champions Trophy. However, for Dilip, a strong recommendation came from a senior player, and Dilip got a one-year extension, and Tendo actually didn't have any specific domain role. He is a fantastic coach, who hasn't been used because Dilip is there," the senior source added.

Gambhir is still actively discussing the matter with Doeschate, urging him to retain the role. Gambhir had always wanted Ryan ten Doeschate on his coaching panel; however, due to Dilip's contract extension, Doeschate could not secure his intended role and was appointed as an assistant coach instead. Consequently, the likelihood of his leaving the position has increased.

"He is an outstanding coach, but his expertise hasn't been fully utilised because the fielding coach's position remains occupied," the source added.
