Known for his powerful finishing skills in the lower middle order, Rinku Singh has steadily cemented his place in India’s white-ball setup. The southpaw recently featured for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2025 and remains a key contender in India’s limited-overs plans. Though he was named a reserve for the T20 World Cup 2024, Rinku continues to make headlines, this time, for personal reasons, as he prepares for marriage.

Rinku Singh: Early life, career, and family background

Born on October 12, 1997, in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rinku comes from modest roots. He is the third of five children in his family. His father, Khanchandra Singh, worked with an LPG distribution company, while his mother, Veena Devi, took care of the home. Rinku's siblings, Sonu, Mukul, Sheelu, and Jeetu, were part of a tightly-knit family that lived in a two-room accommodation near Aligarh Stadium provided by his father’s employer.

Rinku’s early years were marked by financial hardship and unwavering love for cricket. He even took up a job as a sweeper at a coaching centre to support his dreams before dedicating himself fully to the sport. That dedication paid off, as he quickly rose through the junior ranks, representing Uttar Pradesh at the Under-16 and Under-19 levels, eventually earning a spot in the senior team for the Ranji Trophy.

He made his first-class debut in the 2016-17 Ranji season and has since become a consistent performer in domestic cricket. His impactful performances led to his selection by Kolkata Knight Riders during the 2018 IPL auction. A left-handed batter and part-time off-break bowler, Rinku Singh has showcased remarkable consistency. He has scored 3,336 runs in 50 first-class matches at an average of 54.69, including 7 centuries and 22 half-centuries. In List A cricket, he boasts 1,997 runs from 63 matches, with an average of 47.55.

Rinku Singh remains a part of India’s T20 setup and was last seen in action during IPL 2025. Notably, he traveled as a reserve with the squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup in the US and West Indies. After India’s title triumph, a viral video captured Rinku celebrating alongside Virat Kohli, Arshdeep Singh, and other senior players. Now, his focus shifts to the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in India.

Rinku Singh gets engaged to MP Priya Saroj: Know more about the cricketer's fiancee

Away from the pitch, Rinku Singh recently got engaged. The ceremony took place on June 8, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life. His fiancee, Priya Saroj, is a Member of Parliament and also a practicing lawyer. Her political roots run deep as her father, Tufani Saroj, is an MLA from the Kerakat constituency in Jaunpur district and has previously served three terms as an MP from the Machhlishahr seat.

In the 2024 general elections, Priya Saroj secured a significant win for the Samajwadi Party. At just 25 years and 7 months, she ranks among the youngest MPs in the current Lok Sabha.  Though the couple had initially planned to tie the knot soon, their wedding has now been postponed, reportedly due to Rinku’s cricketing commitments. The revised wedding date hasn’t been finalized, but speculation suggests it may take place post-February 2026, likely after the IPL season concludes.
