The Royal Challengers Bangalore have welcomed New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert as a replacement for Jacob Bethell, the franchise confirmed in a post on their ‘X’ account on Thursday. Seifert has been roped in as a temporary replacement for Bethell, who will be returning home, due to national commitments, after RCB’s penultimate league stage match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Jacob Bethell has been named in England’s squad for the upcoming white-ball series against West Indies, starting 29th May 2025. The 21-year-old has played two matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. He has scored 67 runs, including a half-century, at a strike rate of over 170.

Meanwhile, Tim Seifert will be eligible for selection in the RCB’s last league stage match against Lucknow Super Giants, scheduled on 27th May 2025. Seifert made his IPL debut for Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2021 edition of IPL. He then played two games for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2022, scoring 24 runs with a highest score of 21. It is worth mentioning that Tim Seifert is currently playing for Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League. Karachi Kings will play the Eliminator clash against Lahore Qalandars on Thursday.

The final of PSL 2025 is set to take place on 25th May. If Karachi Kings manage to reach the final, then the New Zealand batter will be unable to arrive in India before 26th May.

Where is RCB standing in IPL 2025 Points Table:

The Royal Challengers Bangalore are placed at number two spot on the IPL 2025 Points Table with eight wins in 12 games, amassing 17 points. While they have already qualified for the playoffs, the Red Army would be eyeing a top-two finish on the ladder. They have two league stage games left - RCB vs SRH on 23rd May 2025, followed by RCB vs LSG on 27th May 2025. Their last match against Kolkata Knight Riders was abandoned due to rain, which had both teams awarded a point.
