Nearly three months after the tragic incident outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium following RCB’s maiden IPL title win, the franchise has shared its first post on social media. In a heartfelt letter, RCB said their absence was a period of grieving and learning from one of the worst incidents in Indian Cricket. After Royal Challengers Bangalore won their maiden Indian Premier League title in 18 years, they had planned to conduct an open bus victory parade. However, the Bengaluru Police denied it, reasoning that it would lead to traffic congestion in the Central Business District. Hence, the franchises decided to conduct a closed-door felicitation ceremony at the stadium from 5 pm to 6 pm.

Thousands of fans gathered outside the gates between 3:30 and 5:00 p.m., overwhelming the security personnel. It led to a huge commotion as the crowd tried to get inside the stadium. Many people collapsed due to the crowd rush, leading to the deaths of 11 and injuries to more than 70 others.

“Dear 12th Man Army, this is our heartfelt letter to you!”

𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲.

“The Silence wasn’t Absence. It was Grief.”, RCB wrote in its social media post.

"This space was once filled with energy, memories, and moments that you enjoyed the most.. But June 4th changed everything."

"That day broke our hearts, and the silence since then has been our way of holding space."

"In that silence, we’ve been grieving. Listening. Learning. And slowly, we’ve begun to build something more than just a response. Something we truly believe in."

Following the tragic incident, Royal Challengers Bangalore announced INR 10 lakh compensation for each of the eleven families who lost their loved ones. The franchise also said that the tragic stampede led to the launch of a support fund called ‘RCB Cares’ to aid the injured fans.

"That’s how 𝗥𝗖𝗕 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗦 came to life. It grew out of a need to honour, to heal, and to stand beside our fans. A platform for meaningful action shaped by our community & fans."

"We return to this space today, not with celebration but with care."

"To share. To stand with you. To walk forward, together. To continue being the pride of Karnataka. "

"𝗥𝗖𝗕 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗦. And we always will." RCB wrote.
