Cheteshwar Pujara names four toughest bowlers he faced during his career
A formidable force in Test cricket, Cheteshwar Pujara announced his retirement from international cricket on Sunday, 24 August 2025. Following his Test retirement, Pujara named the four toughest bowlers he faced during his career. The Indian batter found the South Africa pace duo of Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn threatening with the ball. The duo troubled not just Pujara but numerous other batters during their playing days, especially in South Africa.
Pujara had a tough time against them in Test cricket. He had an average of 30 against Dale Steyn, but it dropped to as low as 19 against Morne Morkel. Apart from these two, Cheteshwar Pujara also named James Anderson and Pat Cummins in his list. Notably, James Anderson dismissed Pujara 12 times in Test cricket, while Pat Cummins has taken Pujara’s wicket eight times.
Despite getting out to Pat Cummins quite a few times, Cheteshwar Pujara had dominated with the bat on his tours to Australia. He scored 993 runs in 11 Test innings in Australia at an average of 47.28.
Cheteshwar Pujara ends his Test cricket career with 7195 runs
Cheteshwar Pujara played 103 Test matches for India. He scored 7195 runs at an impressive average of 43.60. Pujara scored 19 hundreds and 35 fifties in Test cricket, with his highest score being 206 not out.
Pujara took to ‘X’ to announce his retirement from international cricket on Sunday.
