After clinching the series win over Afghanistan, the Indian team aims to clean sweep in the 3rd & final ODI against the visitors, Afghanistan, as the action moves to Chennai. India vs Afghanistan 3rd ODI will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on June 21. The Indian team has already won the series by winning the first 2 ODIs, and is now aiming for a clean sweep. On the other hand, Afghanistan want to end their India tour with a victory.

In both matches, thanks to skipper Shubman Gill’s incredible knocks, Team India easily defeated Afghanistan. The Indian team has made 3 debuts in the series so far, and auditions for players are being held continuously for the 2027 World Cup. Nitishkumar Reddy was not available for selection in the second ODI due to a thigh injury, which is the only matter of concern. Team India is already grappling with Hardik Pandya's injury, and Reddy's injury has only made matters worse. Reddy's replacement hasn't been announced yet.

Yashashvi Jaiswal was given a chance as an opener in the last match, but he failed to capitalise on the opportunity, returning to the pavilion after scoring just 4 runs. Team India is looking at him as a backup opener, so he could be given another chance in the third match. Chennai's wicket is considered favourable to spinners, so the team could consider playing Harsh Dubey. If he really gets a chance, then one of the pacers, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav or Gurnoor Brar, could be given a break. It will be interesting to see who will get a chance in the playing XI in the next cricket match

Apart from this, the rest of the playing XI is likely to remain unchanged. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma will open the batting, while captain Shubman Gill will bat at number three. The responsibility for the middle order will rest on Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul. Harsh Dubey and Washington Sundar will feature as all-rounders; alongside Kuldeep Yadav, they will also contribute to the spin bowling effort on Chennai's spin-friendly surface. Prince Yadav and Gurnoor Brar will spearhead the fast-bowling attack for this match. Arshdeep Singh might be rested for this game.
