The Indian cricket team is now aiming to carry forward the momentum they gained in the first ODI against the visitors, New Zealand, as the action moves to Rajkot. The 2nd ODI will be played between the two teams at Niranjan Shah Stadium, Khandheri, in Rajkot. The Indian team will want to win this match and secure the series before the final ODI. Meanwhile, the New Zealand team seeks to bounce back.

In the series opener, thanks to Virat Kohli’s incredible 93, the hosts easily defeated the visitors by 4 wickets. After the match, captain Shubman Gill spoke about Washington Sundar’s injury. Sundar has been ruled out of the remaining series. He suffered acute discomfort in his left lower rib area while bowling during the first ODI. In his absence, Ayush Badoni has received his maiden call-up.

It is now confirmed that India will make a force change in the second ODI. It will be interesting to see who will get a chance in the playing XI in the next cricket match. Nitish Kumar Reddy is already in the squad, and it is expected that he might feature in the XI.

Apart from this, the rest of the team is likely to remain the same. In the batting department, Rohit Sharma will open with captain Shubman Gill. Rohit is now hoping for a longer knock after being dismissed after hitting 26 runs. Shubman Gill got a half-century in the last match after a protracted hiatus, and he will want to continue playing at this level.

The lineup will also include Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul, with Rahul acting as wicket-keeper. Unfortunately, Virat Kohli missed his ton in the last game by just seven runs, but he wants to finish it this time. Iyer also missed his half-century by 1 run. Rahul wants to finish things off once more.

Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja will be the two all-rounders, while Kuldeep Yadav is the only spinner in the XI. Harshit Rana, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna will provide the pace options.

The Indian bowlers were expensive in the series opener and struggled to take wickets early on. Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, and Mohammed Siraj shared 2 wickets each, but no one could secure early breakthroughs. The team management might include Arshdeep Singh in the XI. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja also conceded runs in the IND vs NZ Vadodara ODI. After Sundar’s injury, they are the only two spin options. Both will want to increase their wicket tally in the upcoming match.
