In a timely development for Delhi Capitals, Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has received a short-term NOC from the Bangladesh Cricket Board, permitting him to take part in the final three league games of IPL 2025. Valid from May 18 to May 24, the NOC comes after Mustafizur completes his national team commitments. He replaces Australian batting prodigy Jake Fraser McGurk in the DC camp, who was ruled out earlier due to injury. Known for his control in the death overs and seasoned IPL track record, Mustafizur’s presence could be pivotal as Delhi Capitals aim to close the league phase on a high.

BCB clears Mustafizur Rahman to play for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025

The 29-year-old left-arm seamer is presently with the Bangladesh squad in the UAE, preparing for the opening T20I against the hosts, scheduled for May 17 in Sharjah. As per the directive of BCB, Mustafizur will play that game before traveling to India to join the Delhi Capitals, who take on Gujarat Titans at home on May 18, the same day he is expected to be available for selection.

“As per the decision of BCB Cricket Operations, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has granted a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to national team pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman for his participation in the ongoing IPL 2025 in India, for the period from 18 to 24 May, 2025,” BCB's statement read.

His short stint with Delhi Capitals arrives at a decisive point in their season, with playoff hopes still alive. However, since his NOC is only valid until May 24, his involvement will be restricted to the last three matches of the league stage. Should Delhi secure a playoff berth, they will likely have to continue without his services in the knockout fixtures.

Mustafizur’s entry comes as a much-needed reinforcement for a Delhi squad grappling with key player withdrawals. Both Mitchell Starc and Donovan Ferreira have opted not to return to the IPL, citing personal reasons. Their decisions came in the wake of the league’s brief suspension following rising India-Pakistan tensions triggered by the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
