The fever of the Indian Premier League (IPL) keeps on increasing with every next season of pure entertainment and enthusiasm. While talking about the IPL 2024 season, teams are scoring 200+totals just for fun on a regular basis. On the contrary, with the inclusion of Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants since 2022, the competition has also become a lot tougher as compared to the past which forces the teams to bring forward their best game in every single encounter. Most Runs in IPL history by a franchise

1. Mumbai Indians 

Mumbai Indians occupy the top position in the list of highest runs in IPL history by a single franchise so far. The five-time IPL champions have managed to score a massive total of 38,941 runs from as many as 255 matches. Mumbai Indians became the first team in the history of the cash-rich T20 league to have managed to win 5 IPL trophies in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. MI have smashed a brilliant tally of 3539 fours and 1633 sixes in the IPL history. On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians have also won two Champions League titles. 

2. Royal Challengers Bangalore

Surprisingly, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are placed at the second slot in this category of most runs in the history of the Indian Premier League. RCB have composed a superlative tally of 37,426 runs in the 17 editions of the T20 competition. The star-studded trio of Virat Kohli (who has the most runs in IPL 2024), Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers have together played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore over the years to boost their run-tally. RCB have notched up a total of 3287 fours and 1574 sixes in the IPL history. However, the Royal Challengers Bangalore are still searching for their maiden IPL title victory. RCB are placed at the fifth position in the list of highest score in IPL history

3. Punjab Kings 

Its time to talk about another team who is yet to win a single title in the history of the Indian Premier League as things have not gone well for the Punjab Kings who played the final in 2014. However, Punjab Kings (PBKS) have racked up 36,476 runs in the T20 tournament so far and are occupying the third position on the table. They have had a number of power-hitting players in their ranks during the last few IPL seasons. Punjab Kings have featured in as many as 240 IPL games having blasted 3318 fours and 1454 sixes. The current Punjab Kings captain Shikhar Dhawan has the second most runs in IPL history. 

4. Delhi Capitals 

Delhi Capitals (DC) find themselves at the fourth spot in the list of highest runs by a single IPL franchise so far in the competition. The IPL 2020 finalists have scored 36,280 runs from a total of 247 matches at an average of 24.44 and a strike-rate of 128.65. Just like Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals have also not won a single IPL trophy so far. Delhi Capitals have managed to hit as many as 3414 fours and 1299 sixes in the Indian Premier League history. 

5. Kolkata Knight Riders

The two-time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), are placed at the fifth position amongst the IPL teams with most runs in IPL history. KKR have smashed a blistering tally of 35,925 runs from a total of 244 matches at a fine strike-rate of nearly 130 and an average of close to 25. Under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir, the Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL trophy in 2012 and 2014. They also played the IPL finals in 2021 season where they suffered a comprehensive defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings. 

6. Chennai Super Kings

It must be very much amusing as part of the IPL updates for the cricket fanatics that Chennai Super Kings are placed on the sixth spot in this list as they are one of the most successful and consistent teams in the history of the Indian Premier League. CSK have smacked a total of 35718 runs from as many as 233 IPL games. The Chennai Super Kings have notched up as many as 3104 fours and 1466 sixes so far in this competition's history.
