Mohammed Shami dropped from SRH playing XI for SRH vs DC IPL 2025 match
Hanging by a thread in IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad have finally taken some stern calls in their team selection. With just 6 points in 10 matches, SRH need to win every match from here to vie for a place in the IPL 2025 playoffs. While it would take nothing short of a wonder for the IPL 2024 runners-up to land a place in the final team, no team wants to give up without a try. With the goal clear in their plans, Hyderabad have dropped Mohammed Shami from the SRH playing XI for the SRH vs DC IPL 2025 match. Moreover, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and Kamindu Mendis have also been excluded from the SRH attack for the home fixture against the higher-ranked Delhi Capitals.

Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first on the hard surface in Hyderabad in the SRH vs DC match. While the skipper didn't open up on the changes in the SRH playing XI for the match, the squad announcement that followed included some major changes. Major picks who have been struggling throughout IPL 2025 have now finally faced the axe. Abhinav Manohar and Sachin Baby have replaced the first-choice all-rounder and pacer in the team.
Mohammed Shami missed IPL 2024 entirely as he tended to an ankle injury that he picked up at the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup. Almost a year since his injury, Shami finally restarted his gameplay with stints in the domestic circuit last year. Moreover, over a year since his last international assignment, Shami re-entered the Indian setup for the white-ball series against England earlier this year. Subsequently, the primary seamer assisted India in Dubai at the all-important ICC Champions Trophy in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.

However, the seasoned speedster has failed to show a fiery flare in the ongoing IPL season so far. Shami has been unable to threaten the opponents with his pace early in the powerplay. Moreover, with the economy rate also flowing against his will, Shami has proved costly for Sunrisers Hyderabad. With the batting order already struggling, the lack of accountability in the bowling lineup has pitted SRH deep in the ranks. In 9 matches, Shami has managed only 6 wickets with an economy of 11.23.
The story has been similarly disappointing for Nitish Kumar Reddy this season. His onslaught in IPL 2024 led the all-rounder to selection in the Indian team. However, form has eluded the youngster this season. Providing no aid to the team's struggling batting order, Reddy has managed just 173 runs across 9 innings this season. Meanwhile, the Pat Cummins-led team has provided a chance to Abhinav Manohar in the SRH playing XI for the do-or-die SRH vs DC match.
