A 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi made the world stand up and applaud at Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur, courtesy of his breathtaking knock against Gujarat Titans on Monday. The left-hander showcased a fearless hitting display as he smashed his maiden IPL hundred in just 35 balls. His sensational knock of 101 runs in 38 balls helped Rajasthan Royals chase down a mammoth 210-run target in just under 16 overs.

The southpaw began his onslaught by smashing three sixes and two fours off Ishant Sharma in the fourth over. In the following over, he smacked Washington Sundar for back-to-back sixes, followed by a four on the last delivery to reach his half-century off just 17 balls. Rajasthan Royals raced away to 81 runs in just five overs and 87 at the end of the powerplay.  After three quiet overs following the powerplay, Rashid Khan made a mistake as he handed the ball to Karim Janat.

In his first over in the Indian Premier League, the Afghanistan all-rounder was smacked for 30 runs in six balls, thanks to some belligerent hitting from Suryavanshi.  The 14-year-old welcomed him with a six and the next one went for a four off a thick top edge. Karim Janat then bowled a low full toss and the Rajasthan Royals opener smacked him well over deep-mid wicket for another six.

The next one was again pitched outside the leg-stump and the young star wasn’t going to miss that, smashing another six over deep midwicket. The next three deliveries went for two boundaries and a six. Vaibhav Suryavanshi reached his maiden hundred with a six over deep-midwicket to Rashid Khan in the next over, forcing coach Rahul Dravid to get up from his wheelchair, applaud, and admire a star in the making.
