India’s veteran spinner Kuldeep Yadav has signed with Yorkshire, an English cricket county side, as an overseas player for the upcoming domestic season. He will play 5-ODIs and 3 County Championship matches. He will begin his new assignment from July 24 (Friday) against Glamorgan at Neath.

Kuldeep Yadav was recently a part of the India ODI squad during the England tour. However, he was not given a chance to feature in the playing XI throughout the series. For this decision, several Indian and overseas players have been criticising the Indian team management. The Indian team even lost the series 1-2.

Kuldeep Yadav expressed his happiness after joining Yorkshire and thanked them for the opportunity.

"I'm really pleased to be joining Yorkshire and grateful for this opportunity. It will be a real privilege to represent a club with Yorkshire's proud history.

"I've always enjoyed the challenge of playing in English conditions, and after speaking with the management, I became really excited to join up with the team and I'm looking forward to making a positive contribution during my time at Headingley, said Kuldeep in the club's statement.

The left-arm chinaman spinner has taken 79 wickets in 18 Tests at an impressive average of 22. In ODIs, he has picked up 194 wickets with best figures of 6-25. He has 95 wickets in the shortest format. Last time, he played for India against Afghanistan in the ODI series.

Kuldeep Yadav likely aims to prove his worth by playing domestic & county cricket in England. The Indian team is set to depart for the Sri Lanka tour soon, with a two-match Test series scheduled to begin on August 15. The BCCI is expected to announce the squad for this series shortly. It remains to be seen whether Kuldeep secures a spot in the Indian squad for the tour. Since Sri Lankan pitches are considered favourable for spinners, Kuldeep could prove to be India's 'X-factor' there.

Apart from Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ashutosh Sharma, Jaydev Unadkat, R.Sai Kishore, and Manav Suthar will also play English domestic cricket this season for their respective teams.
