KL Rahul will move to a different batting position in the Delhi Capitals' batting order for the remainder of the league stage matches in the Indian Premier League 2025, according to a report by Times of India. KL Rahul, who was batting in the middle order, has now been tasked with opening the innings. Notably, he has once opened this season and batted twice at the number three spot. He has mostly batted at number four - seven games this season. However, in a bid to have a solid start at the top of the order, the management has decided to promote Rahul.

He is likely to open with Faf du Plessis, which means Karun Nair might be slotted in the middle order, or he could be dropped. In the IPL 2025 so far, KL Rahul has 381 runs in 10 games at a strike rate of 142. Delhi Capitals currently have 13 points in 11 games. They need to win all three remaining games from here to give themselves the best chance to qualify. There is no doubt that KL Rahul will have a significant role to play with the bat if Delhi are to pose a challenge for the opposition.

Delhi Capitals had made a brilliant start to their Indian Premier League 2025 season, winning five out of their first six matches. However, things went downhill thereafter as they could secure a solitary win in their last five games. Delhi Capitals are scheduled to play their next three games against Gujarat Titans, Mumbai Indians, and Punjab Kings on 18th, 21st, and 24th May 2025, respectively. All three teams are in terrific form, and Delhi Capitals could find it difficult to win as Mitchell Starc has made himself unavailable for the final leg of IPL 2025.

The Australian pacer is Delhi Capitals’ highest wicket-taker this season, and his absence will hurt them. The onus will now be on T Natarajan, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mohit Sharma to lead the charge in the fast bowling department. Apart from Starc, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Donovan Ferreira have also pulled out of the final leg of IPL 2025.
