A sublime century that kicked off the India A Tour of England, converted into a double ton for Karun Nair early on Day 2. Karun Nair had wrapped the Day 1 proceedings with an unbeaten 186-run knock in the opening Test against England Lions. The No. 3 batter for India A on the Tour returned on Day 2 to complete his double ton. The two-match India A tour precedes the India Tour of England. Meanwhile, Karun Nair, already named in the India squad for the five-match Test series against England, has displayed seamless credentials for his selection with his latest double ton.

Karun Nair hits a double century for India A against England Lions in Canterbury

Stars have aligned perfectly for Karun Nair to script a shining comeback into the Indian Test side. The batter, meanwhile, is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that he banks on the opportunity. Nair's charge against England Lions involved two impactful partnerships with Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel respectively. Both the batters, Sarfaraz and Jurel, narrowly missed out on their nerves, getting dismissed on 92 and 94 respectively. However, Karun Nair, who completed his century off 150 deliveries on the opening day, settled well with the conditions in Canterbury to smash the double ton.

With India at 479, England Lions finally found a breakthrough against Nair as Zaman Akhter dismissed the batter in a catch-out dismissal. Subsequently, Lions dismissed Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shardul Thakur to pick up four wickets in the first session of Day 2. At lunch on Day 2, India A have mounted a score of 533 at the loss of 7 wickets. Harsh Dubey and Anshul Kamboj hold the crease for India A in Canterbury at the stroke of lunch.

Overall, India A have put up a sublime performance to kick off the England Tour, headlined by Karun Nair. Earlier this month, a wait of over 8 years finally ended for Nair as the Vidarbha batter was named in the India squad for the India vs England series. The retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma opened up the spots in the Indian Test batting lineup. Meanwhile, the selection panel took note of the last domestic season to call up Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan in the squad, which would be led by India's newly appointed Test captain, Shubman Gill.
