The day is here for IPL 2025 to resume following a break of over a week. The India-Pakistan conflict, which was triggered by a heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, escalated to a point where the neighbours stood amid a war-like situation. The drone and missile attacks led to the BCCI suspending IPL 2025 for a week due to security concerns. However, a ceasefire was announced on Saturday, laying the path for the season to resume after a week. The first fixture in the revised IPL 2025 schedule is the RCB vs KKR match, scheduled at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, there remains a doubt about the participation of the home team captain, Rajat Patidar, in the fixture.

Rajat Patidar likely to play the RCB vs KKR IPL 2025 fixture

Rajat Patidar injured his finger while fielding in the RCB vs CSK IPL 2025 match before the suspension. Before RCB could play its next league stage fixture against LSG, the tournament was suspended. Now, with over a week’s break for the skipper, Patidar is likely to play the RCB vs KKR IPL 2025 match. The IPL 2025 suspension was announced on Friday, May 9, the day when the LSG vs RCB match was scheduled. At the time, it was heavily discussed whether Rajat Patidar would take the field for the match. Moreover, the name of Jitesh Sharma cropped up as the interim captaincy prospect if Patidar sat out with his injured hand.

However, the match was postponed like the entire tournament. In a positive development for RCB, the week-long break provided a chance for the captain to recover. The skipper was seen practising in the nets without the aid of a protective splint. From the visuals, Rajat Patidar looks fit to play the RCB vs KKR IPL 2025 fixture at home. The update was further cemented by the RCB Director of Cricket, Mo Bobat, who assured the fitness and availability of the skipper in the match.

"Rajat's going well. He had an injury to his hand, but he's been building up ever so slowly. The disruption in the tournament schedule gave him more time to heal and regain form," said Bobat during the pre-match press conference.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have nearly fortified their spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs. Currently, Bengaluru sits in second place on the IPL 2025 points table with 16 points in 11 matches. In the remaining three matches at the group stage, the side would aim for a Top 2 finish. KKR, meanwhile, have been eliminated from the playoffs race along with the likes of CSK, RR, and SRH.
