Irfan Pathan believes that the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League could potentially be the final time fans see MS Dhoni wearing the iconic yellow jersey of the Chennai Super Kings. The former India all-rounder shared his thoughts while reflecting on Dhoni’s remarkable legacy and long-standing association with the franchise. Pathan emphasized that Dhoni has been the heart and soul of Chennai Super Kings for many years, guiding the team through multiple successful campaigns and establishing a culture of calm leadership and consistency. Under his captaincy, CSK has emerged as one of the most successful teams in the tournament’s history, winning several titles and consistently reaching the playoffs.

CSK is incomplete without MS Dhoni: Irfan Pathan

According to Pathan, Dhoni’s influence goes far beyond his performances on the field. His presence, leadership, and connection with fans have made him one of the most recognizable figures in the league. Pathan also admitted that it would be difficult for cricket lovers to imagine both CSK and the IPL without Dhoni, as the legendary wicketkeeper-batter has become synonymous with the franchise and the tournament itself.

“CSK is incomplete without MS Dhoni. This season might be the last time we see him in the yellow jersey, and it's tough to imagine CSK and the IPL without him. This season, Dhoni will play an important role in bringing everyone together. I'm not sure how many games he will play. But his presence in the dressing room will help a lot. Ruturaj Gaikwad is the leader. But as a group, two or three guys are being groomed for the future. That is where MS Dhoni comes in. I hope he makes a difference," stated former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan.

Irfan Pathan believes that the management of the Chennai Super Kings will adopt a cautious and well-planned approach when it comes to managing the workload of their legendary captain, MS Dhoni, during the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Considering Dhoni’s experience and the physical demands of a long tournament, the franchise is expected to carefully balance his involvement so that he remains fit and effective throughout the campaign.

Pathan suggested that CSK’s management understands Dhoni’s immense value to the team, not only as a player but also as a leader and mentor to younger members of the squad. As a result, they are likely to ensure that his role is managed in a way that allows him to contribute when it matters most. At the same time, Pathan feels that the franchise would love to give their iconic skipper a memorable farewell. One of the biggest ways to do that, he noted, would be by lifting another trophy and securing a sixth title for the team, making Dhoni’s possible final season even more special.

“Questions about his fitness, batting position, and whether he will play all games will still come up. The CSK team management will take it step by step. They will definitely look to give him a perfect farewell by lifting their sixth IPL trophy,” Irfan added.

MS Dhoni remains one of the most influential figures within the Chennai Super Kings setup and continues to be a key member of the team’s leadership group. Over the years, his calm approach and sharp cricketing mind have played a crucial role in shaping the franchise’s success in the Indian Premier League. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK has enjoyed a remarkable run, winning five IPL titles and establishing itself as one of the most successful and consistent teams in the tournament’s history.

However, the team endured a disappointing campaign in the previous season. The five-time champions struggled to find momentum and eventually finished at the bottom of the points table. Out of their 14 matches, CSK managed to win only four, a result that fell far short of the high standards the franchise has set over the years. Despite the team’s struggles, Dhoni’s legacy as a batter in the IPL remains impressive. In 278 matches and 242 innings, he has scored 5,439 runs at an average of 38.80 and an excellent strike rate of 137.45. His record also includes 24 half-centuries, with a highest score of an unbeaten 84.
