IPL 2026: Check out the full list of injured players
The Indian Premier League 2026 is set to commence on March 28; however, most teams are already facing fitness concerns. At present, players from many different teams are struggling with injuries, due to which the team management is facing problems in selection.
The list of injured players is growing day by day, making it less likely for teams to field their best teams in their opening matches. The list of injured players includes some notable names, including Australia's fast bowling team. Furthermore, India's Harshit Rana has also been ruled out of the long-awaited IPL. Apart from the injuries, a couple of overseas players will also miss the initial phase due to their national commitments. In this blog, we are going to explore the injured and unavailable players for IPL 2026.
Harshit Rana (KKR)
Kolkata Knight Riders’ star pacer Harshit Rana is expected to miss the entire season due to his knee injury, which occurred earlier this year. He sustained a knee injury against South Africa during the T20 WC warm-up match, which caused him to miss the recently held T20 World Cup 2026, too. Following this, he underwent knee surgery in February at Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai. He is currently in rehabilitation with the BCCI medical staff. He was recently seen on crutches at the BCCI Naman Awards on March 16.
Sam Curran (RR)
Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, the Rajasthan Royals acquired Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran instead of Sanju Samson in a trade with Chennai Super Kings. However, Sam Curran is set to miss the initial phase due to his suspected groin issue.
Pat Cummins (SRH)
Sunrisers Hyderabad is set to miss their regular skipper, Pat Cummins, in starting matches of the IPL 2026. He is still recovering from a lower-back stress injury that has ruled him out of action since December. In his absence, Ishan Kishan will lead the side, while Abhishek Sharma will be his deputy.
Josh Hazlewood (RCB)
The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, are also battling injury problems this time around. The team's premium pacer, Josh Hazlewood, is still recovering from a hamstring strain and a subsequent Achilles complication and will miss the initial phase of the IPL. He remains in rehabilitation in Sydney under Cricket Australia and has not yet been cleared for travel. The seamer is expected to miss at least the first two matches. He is expected to join the RCB squad around mid-April when RCB faces the Rajasthan Royals.
Mitchell Starc (DC)
According to fresh reports, Mitchell Starc is likely to miss the first couple of matches of IPL 2026. But this is not due to an injury. Cricket Australia just takes a cautious approach in managing the star pacer ahead of a demanding international schedule. Mitchel Starc is a part of the Delhi Capitals. His absence will leave a significant gap in their attack at the start of the season.
Nathan Ellis (CSK)
Nathan Ellis has been ruled out of the IPL 2026 due to a hamstring injury. He is a part of the Chennai Super Kings. Ellis became the fourth Australian player on the injured list, after Starc, Cummins, and Hazlewood. Ellis was considered a key bowler for CSK, especially after Matheesa Pathirana was released from CSK, but now his injury is a big blow for the yellow army. Ellis is considered a specialist in the death overs; now, bowlers like Matt Henry and Jamie Overton will have to solve this problem for CSK.
Jack Edwards (SRH)
Sunrisers Hyderabad is already suffering from their regular skipper Pat Cummins’ injury. And now, they faced another huge setback due to Jack Edwards’ injury. He is likely to miss the entire season. He was set to make his IPL debut this year and was bought by Sarabhai Patel for 3 crore INR at the auction.
Wanindu Hasaranga (LSG)
Lucknow Super Giants' Wanindu Hasaranga suffered a hamstring injury during the T20 World Cup 2026, forcing him to miss the rest of the tournament. There's no word yet on Hasaranga's chances of making a comeback in IPL 2026, but if some reports are to be believed, he might miss the entire season.
Apart from these players, New Zealand’s Lockie Ferguson (Punjab Kings), Sri Lanka’s Eshan Malinga (Sunrisers Hyderabad), and Australia’s Matthew Short (Chennai Super Kings) are also on the injured players list and set to miss the initial phase of the tournament.
