In a massive breaking news development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced that the grand finale of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3, 2025. Amidst the India-Pakistan border tensions, the cash-rich T20 league was suspended for a week after which the BCCI came up with a revised schedule for the league stage that included as many as six venues namely Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Lucknow, Mumbai and Bengaluru. In an important thing to note that the revised venues for the IPL 2025 knockouts stage has been announced "by the IPL Governing Council keeping in mind the weather conditions and other parameters."

Interestingly, this will be the third time when the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host an IPL final. The first time moment happened in 2022 when Gujarat Titans won their maiden title while Chennai Super Kings also won their record fifth IPL trophy in 2023 in Ahmedabad. The Qualifier 2 of the IPL 2025 season will also be hosted at the very same venue on June 1, 2025. The BCCI has further announced that the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will take place at the New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. Both of these matches will be held on May 29 and 30 respectively.

Incidentally, according to the previous schedule, both the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator were supposed to be hosted in Hyderabad while the Qualifier 2 and IPL 2025 final had to take place in Kolkata. However, the IPL Governing Council have made the adjustments while taking care of the weather conditions and other factors that can affect these important knockout matches.

In another major announcement, the 65th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 season scheduled to take place between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has been shifted from Bengaluru to Lucknow. It has also been confirmed that the RCB vs SRH IPL 2025 match will be played on May 23 (Friday) at 7:30 PM IST. Moreover, the BCCI were forced to make the last-minute venue changes after the Bengaluru meteorological department issued a yellow alert forecasting "heavy to very heavy rainfall" from May 22.

This also means that the Royal Challengers Bangalore will be playing both of their final league stage matches at the Ekana International Cricket Stadium in Lucknow against Sunrisers Hyderabad (May 23) and against Lucknow Super Giants (May 27). Interestingly, RCB were informed about this development late on Tuesday afternoon after which the team has not strayed outdoors because of the recent incessant showers that have consumed several parts of Bengaluru.

The third important revelation is that the BCCI has decided to extend the stipulated extra time for conducting the IPL 2025 matches by an hour and this stipulation will come into effect from May 20, 2025. This decision has been taken due to the pre-monsoon rains across the country and several venues are expected to be affected. This will allow the state associations with sufficient time to prepare the venues in case of heavy rain during the upcoming matches that includes the IPL 2025 playoffs as well.
