The Pakistan cricket team appears to have kicked off mind games well ahead of their high-voltage Super 4 clash against India in the Asia Cup 2025. According to multiple Indian journalists present in the UAE for tournament coverage, several Pakistani players were allegedly heard chanting “6-0, 6-0” during a training session in Dubai—remarks that have sparked fresh controversy on social media. The chants are believed to reference a politically charged claim made by Pakistan regarding the aerial skirmish that followed India’s Operation Sindoor. As per Pakistani media and military sources, the "6-0" signifies an unverified claim that Pakistan shot down six Indian fighter jets during the four-day conflict.

However, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has firmly denied these assertions, maintaining that they downed at least five Pakistani jets and a major surveillance aircraft in retaliation. The resurfacing of this claim—especially in a cricketing context—has drawn sharp criticism online, with many accusing the Pakistani camp of crossing the line between sport and politics. As anticipation builds for the India-Pakistan Super 4 showdown on September 21, tensions are already running high. Whether this psychological tactic will rattle the Indian side or backfire remains to be seen on the field.

The latest controversy has further intensified an already charged atmosphere ahead of the India vs Pakistan Super 4 clash. Pakistan skipped the pre-match press conference scheduled before the high-stakes Sunday encounter, continuing their protest over the now-infamous handshake controversy from the group stage. Tensions first flared during the earlier India vs Pakistan match, where India secured a convincing win. However, it was the post-match events that drew more attention than the on-field result.

Indian players notably declined to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts, a move they later clarified was a silent protest against the Pahalgam terror attack in April, which claimed the lives of 26 Indian civilians. Pakistan, in turn, viewed the gesture as disrespectful and politicized. The situation has since snowballed, with both sides exchanging sharp statements. With emotions running high, the upcoming clash in the Super 4s promises to be not just a game, but a political and psychological battleground.

Following the handshake controversy, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) filed a formal complaint with the ICC, demanding the removal of match referee Andy Pycroft, accusing him of showing bias towards India. However, the ICC rejected the request—twice. In a move likely to further anger the PCB, Pycroft has once again been appointed as the match referee for the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan Super 4 clash.

Despite the escalating off-field drama, both teams are expected to face off at a packed Dubai International Stadium. However, all eyes will be on Suryakumar Yadav and Team India to see whether they continue their silent protest by refusing to shake hands with Pakistani players, reigniting tensions both on and off the field.
