The touring side has announced their updated squad for the fourth Test. India has been jolted by multiple injury setbacks in the squad as they gear up for the do-or-die Manchester Test. The fourth India vs England Test, scheduled to be held at Old Trafford, brings the chance for the visitors to level the series 2-2. However, the task has now become trickier, with multiple players in the squad enduring injury concerns. The management has now named an updated squad, confirming that pace all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the series. Meanwhile, Arshdeep Singh has been ruled out of the upcoming Test only.

In its latest update, the BCCI has confirmed that Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remainder of the India vs England series. Earlier reports suggested that the pace all-rounder endured a knee injury while training in the gym ahead of the fourth Test in Manchester. Moreover, the updates informed that the scans of Reddy's injury showed a significant blow to the ligament. Now, with the board cementing the injury concern, the pace all-rounder is all set to return home as the team moves on to fight in the do-or-die clash at Old Trafford.

Moreover, Arshdeep Singh has been ruled out of the fourth Test. While not for the entirety of the remaining India vs England series, the speedster's hand injury has marred his Test debut prospects in Manchester. With the buzz around Jasprit Bumrah missing the Manchester Test due to his workload management, the anticipation was for the left-arm pacer to claim his maiden Test cap at Old Trafford. However, the speedster copped a blow to his left thumb, as confirmed by the BCCI, while training in Beckenham. Further reports have suggested that the injury to his bowling hand has required stitches and could potentially dash his hopes for a chance to play in England.

Meanwhile, the management has called up Haryana speedster Anshul Kamboj in the India squad for the fourth Test. Kamboj toured England with India A earlier, leaving an impressive mark while playing two unofficial Tests against England Lions. However, the start of the main India vs England series witnessed Harshit Rana gaining a place in the squad for the opening Test at Headingley. While Rana didn't get a chance in the India Playing XI for the Headingley Test, it was later confirmed that the youngster joined to cover an injury concern in the squad. The pacer returned home ahead of the second Test at Edgbaston.

Now, as injuries have returned to mar India's time in England, the management has gone for Kamboj instead of Rana. The speedster has a fair chance of earning his debut cap in the Manchester Test, as signalled by another concern in the squad. Before BCCI's official confirmation of India's updated squad for the fourth Test, it was reported that the pacer, Akash Deep, might also miss the fixture. The speedster suffered a strain to his groin during the Lord's Test.

While BCCI has named Akash Deep in the squad for the upcoming India vs England clash, if his groin injury sustains, the management would need to go for another option. Moreover, with Reddy now ruled out, the chance is for Shardul Thakur to reclaim his spot in the Indian combination. The Mumbai all-rounder played the Headingley Test but was dropped from the combination ahead of the next fixture owing to his mediocre returns in both departments.

The multiple injury setbacks, furthermore, could push India to play Jasprit Bumrah in the combination for the Manchester Test. The pace spearhead is confirmed to play only three out of the five India vs England Tests. Having played at Headingley and the Lord's Test, Bumrah could play either of the next two Tests. If the speedster comes along for the do-or-die clash at Old Trafford, Bumrah would miss the last Test at the Oval.

Another concern for the visitors is the fitness of Rishabh Pant. The wicket-keeper batter endured an injury to his finger in the Lord's Test. While Pant played the rest of the match as a specialist batter, it remains to be seen if India is intent on risking the move of playing Pant as a specialist batter in the upcoming matches.
