After witnessing Royal Challengers Bengaluru lift their maiden IPL title, the focus shifts to the much-anticipated India's tour of England 2025. India last toured England for a five-match Test series in 2021. Four years later, most of the experienced campaigners from that tour have either been retired or sidelined. They no longer have the comfort of Rohit Sharma at the top of the order and their savior in Virat Kohli.

India will be touring England under a newly appointed Test captain in Shubman Gill. The current squad for the England tour lacks experience. However, a few players have previously played red-ball cricket in English conditions and performed well. In this article, let’s take a look at the top three players from India's squad for the upcoming England tour who have scored the most Test runs in England.

Top 3 Indian Test run-scorers in England from current squad:

  1. Ravindra Jadeja

Matches: 12

Runs: 642

Average: 29.18

100/50: 1/3

Among all the players in the squad, Ravindra Jadeja has made the most Test appearances in England. He is, in fact, the highest scorer for India among the current squad members for the tour. Jadeja has been one of the biggest assets owing to his ability to contribute with both bat and ball. His best Test knock in England came in the Edgbaston Test on the 2021-2022 tour.

The Indian all-rounder notched his maiden Test ton in England during that game and was involved in a record-breaking 222-run partnership with Rishabh Pant. In 12 matches played in England, Ravindra Jadeja has scored 642 runs, including one century and three half-centuries.

2. KL Rahul

Matches: 9

Runs: 614

Average: 34.11

100/50: 2/1

KL Rahul is one of the experienced members in the squad and will have the onus to do the heavy lifting. In the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, he ought to step up and lead by example. KL Rahul has had a decent Test record in England. Along with Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul provided strong starts in the first two Tests on the 2021-22 tour. He was the best batter for India in the first Test of that series, playing top knocks of 84 and 26.

KL Rahul bettered that in the second Test as he smashed his maiden Test century in England. The Indian opener wrote his name at the Lord’s honors board, thanks to a sensational knock of 129 off 150 balls. However, his subsequent scores were 0,8,17 and 46. Overall, KL Rahul has scored 614 runs in 9 Tests played in England at an average of 34.11.

3. Rishabh Pant

Matches: 9

Runs: 556

Average: 32.70

100/50: 2/2

Test Cricket is one format where Rishabh Pant has found the most success. He has been outstanding with the bat not only at home but also overseas. Pant has eye-catching numbers in Test cricket in Australia, South Africa, and England. It is worth remembering that Rishabh Pant made his Test debut in England only on 18th August 2018. He began his Test cricket career with a six on the second ball he faced, thereby becoming the first Indian to do so.

In his final Test of that series, Pant made heads turn as he notched his maiden Test century at Kennington Oval ground in London. He produced his second hundred in England in the last Test of the 2021-22 tour, further asserting his dominance in overseas conditions. Overall, in 9 Tests, Pant has scored 556 runs at an average of 32.70.
