India are expected to make four changes to their playing XI for the second Test at Edgbaston. As per a report by Revsportz, India are contemplating big changes in their playing eleven for the next game. As mentioned in some other reports as well, Jasprit Bumrah is likely to rest for the second Test match. Indian pacer Akash Deep has reportedly been chosen to replace him. The 28-year-old has played seven Tests for India so far in his career and has picked 15 wickets at an average of 35.20.

The report further stated that India are also contemplating resting Prasidh Krishna for the second Test match. He could make way for Arshdeep Singh, who is yet to make his Test debut. Prasidh Krishna drew criticism for being too expensive during his spell in the first Test. He picked five wickets in the match but conceded runs at more than 6 an over. Arshdeep Singh’s ability to swing the ball both ways serves well for the team going into the second Test match. India are also looking to bolster their spin department with the addition of Washington Sundar. Sundar is likely to replace Shardul Thakur. The former provides stability with his all-round brilliance and has looked good in the nets.

Apart from these three changes, the report also mentioned that either Sai Sudharsan or Karun Nair will make way for Nitish Kumar Reddy for the next Test. Reddy had a terrific debut in Australia but was sidelined for the first Test match. His ability to contribute in all three facets of the game has now put him back in contention.

On the other hand, both Karun Nair and Sai Sudharsan had a forgettable outing in the first Test match of the series. The latter got out on a duck in his debut innings and scored 30 off 48 in the second innings. Karun Nair, on the other hand, managed 0 and 24 in his comeback game.

India lost the first Test match by five wickets against England in Headingley. The second Test match is scheduled to take place from 2nd to 6th July at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Meanwhile, the England team have announced an unchanged playing XI for the second Test.
