IND vs SA: Jasprit Bumrah scripts a massive milestone

The Indian team secured a convincing 101-run victory over South Africa in the first T20I at Barabati Cricket Stadium, Cuttack. After being invited to bat first, thanks to Hardik Pandya’s 59 runs off 28 balls, Team India managed to achieve a total of 175/6 in 20 overs. In response, South Africa was bowled out on just 74 runs in 11.2 overs. For India, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakrawarthy claimed 2-2 wickets each, while Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube took 1-1 wicket. 

In this match, India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah accomplished a significant career milestone in this game that no other Indian bowler has yet to reach. He became the first Indian bowler to take at least 100 wickets in all three formats. During the first T20I against SA, He just needed 1 wicket to complete this milestone. Bumrah took his 100th T20I wicket when he dismissed David Brevis in his 3rd over. Following this, he also dismissed Keshav Maharaj in the same over. He now has 101 T20I wickets.

He has already taken more than 100 wickets in ODIs and tests. In tests, he has 234 wickets, while he has taken 149 wickets in ODIs. Bumrah now has 484 international wickets in his career so far, and he will need only 16 wickets to complete 500 international wickets. This was Jasprit Bumrah’s 81st T20I match. He became the second indian bowler to take 100 T20I wickets. Before him, Arshdeep Singh has also taken 100 wickets in the T20I format. 

Bumrah became the 5th international bowler to take 100 wickets in all three international formats. Before him, Sri Lanka’s former skipper Lasith Malinga, New Zealand’s former bowler Tim Southee, Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, and Pakistan’s premium fast bowler Shaheen Afridi have also achieved this milestone.

After securing victory in the first T20I, India has taken a 1-0 lead in the ongoing 5-match T20I series. The second T20I will be played between two teams at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium at Mullanpur. The Indian team will be eyeing another win in the next cricket match and will have to be ahead 2-0 in the series, while the African team will be eyeing a strong comeback in the series.
