IND vs PAK: Team India stuns Pakistan to win their 9th Asia Cup title
INDIA ARE THE CHAMPIONS! Team India have displayed a stunning brand of cricket to beat Pakistan by 5 wickets in the high-voltage Asia Cup 2025 final hosted at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. While chasing a par score of 147 runs, India ended up losing three wickets in the powerplay but eventually, it was Tilak Varma who showed brilliant composure to guide his team home safely in the summit clash. The Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team remained unbeaten throughout the T20I tournament with a total of seven back-to-back victories and clinched their record 9th Asia Cup title.
India vs Pakistan: Tilak Varma's exceptional knock guides India home in the Asia Cup 2025 final
Despite losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Pakistan got off to an impressive start as the opening duo of Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan laid down a strong foundation at the top. The Pakistani pair stitched a fine opening partnership of 84 runs to put the pressure back on the Indian bowlers. Sahibzada scored his second back-to-back fifty in the much-anticipated India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 final match. However, Varun Chakaravarthy brought India back in the game with the crucial wicket of Farhan in the 10th over.
The Indian bowlers suddenly pulled the match in their favour especially after that opening breakthrough. Shockingly, Pakistan lost the momentum and ended up losing a total of 9 wickets in the gap of just 33 runs. Kuldeep Yadav bowled a fantastic spell taking as many as four wickets and gave away just 30 runs in his four overs as Pakistan were bowled out for 146 runs in 19.1 overs. For India, the trio of Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah and Varun picked up two wickets each in the IND vs PAK grand finale.
In reply, Team India got off to a horrendous start as the in-form Abhishek Sharma got dismissed cheaply in just the second over of the chase. The duo of skipper Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubman Gill were also dismissed inside the first six overs of the powerplay. However, the pair of Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson then got together to bail their team out of trouble with an exceptional 57-run partnership. Shivam Dube too chipped in with a crucial cameo of 33 runs off just 22 balls that included 2 sixes and as many fours. But, it was Tilak who became the hero of the victory as he played an outstanding unbeaten innings of 69 runs off 53 deliveries that consisted of 4 sixes and 3 fours while Rinku Singh smashed the winning runs as India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan for the third time in the Asia Cup 2025.
Tilak Varma was named the Player of the Match for his sensational batting performance. On the other hand, Abhishek Sharma won the Player of the Tournament award for his phenomenal tally of 314 runs from 7 matches at a smashing strike-rate of 200. Kuldeep Yadav was crowned the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament for his superb efforts where he took as many as 17 wickets from 7 games at an economy of 6.25.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I have been informed by the Asian Cricket Council that the Indian cricket team will not be collecting their awards tonight. So that does conclude the post-match presentation," informed Simon Doull.
