IND vs AFG: BCCI announces India squad for the Afghanistan series
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s Test and ODI squads for the upcoming home series against Afghanistan. Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from the Test squad, while KL Rahul has been appointed as the new vice-captain. The Indian team also features some new faces, including Manav Suthar, Gurnoor Brar, and Harsh Dubey. Devdutt Padikkal has been rewarded for his magnificent form with a return to the Test squad.
In addition to the Test squad, the BCCI has also announced the ODI squad, marking the return of Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya. Ishan Kishan played his last ODI against Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup, whereas Hardik Pandya played his last ODI in the 2025 Champions Trophy final. Meanwhile, Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar, and Harsh Dubey have received their maiden ODI call-ups. Prince Yadav has taken 16 wickets in IPL 2026 so far, and that's why he got his maiden call-up.
Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested for both the Test and ODI series. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar have also not returned to any squad. Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya's participation in the ODI series will depend on their fitness.
