How dare you question Gautam Gambhir!

It takes a rare freak to speak like an imbecile at the media press conference. On Wednesday, coach Gautam Gambhir came across as a man who does not care about the Indian Test team which was thrashed 2-0 by South Africa in Guwahati. The manner in which Gambhir spoke was crap, totally insensitive, lacking etiquette. Rather than explain how and why the team has failed to perform, he was talking about past performances when India won, be it drawing the Test series in England, winning the Champions Trophy and the Asia Cup.

What has been dubiously defining, Gambhir has the rare and lousy record of being the coach of Team India which had also lost a Test series last year to New Zealand at home and now to South Africa. His methods were about madness personified. It was perverse. His obsession for all-rounders, how he ensured the team would make a transition from the greats has become the butt of ridicule. Gambhir pulled cotton wool over the eyes of the BCCI and fans and talked of changes. He wanted the star culture out, he wanted the seniors to leave, and see the results.

To have ensured he saw the back of R.Ashwin, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Gambhir left no stone unturned. He was and is in cahoots with chairman of selection committee, Ajit Agarkar. The dangerous duo has run amok. And the results are there to see, losses at home, fans crying. Rather than hang his head in shame, Gambhir talked nonsense at the press conference. The man is so full of himself that he has become inert to everything. Understandable that, Gambhir is a complex character, who has been cribbing he never got due recognition while performing for Team India. Today he gets 100 per cent recognition for turning winners into losers. Today, Gambhir has short of dared the BCCI to sack him. Even past dictators who held their country to ransom were not so full of themselves.

Well, what does one expect from the BCCI, headed by a President who never played at the highest level? Mithun Manhas has made more headlines on social media for reasons other than cricket. Perhaps, Viru Sehwag can answer more on that, given the crazy stories one hears.

BCCI secretary Devdutt Saikia, new to the job, is happy. It does not matter the attendance in Guwahati was low. He has shifted the Test from traditional venues to his own city. Well done, Sir.

So, what does one expect from the BCCI bigwigs? They are not one bit bothered Team India losses. After all, they care for profits, not performance. So, if Gambhir is deriving his strength from such office bearers, do not expect them to deal hard with the coach. The team selection, strategy, changing batting positions of players, creating anarchy, Gambhir has been wonderful.

He is on a mission -- how low India can be pushed into dirt in Test cricket. Results are there to see, for one and all. And now he talks with arrogance. Does India need such a coach?

NO.
