“Har baat jeetunga to mai thodi retirement leta rahunga”- Rohit Sharma’s never-seen-before moment goes viral on internet

The entire nation celebrated India's 79th Independence Day on Saturday, 15th August 2025. Indian cricketers also extended their wishes on this special occasion, sharing heartfelt messages promoting love and unity. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant also shared a never-seen-before compilation video of the Indian team celebrating their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 victory. The video began with Ravindra Jadeja hitting the winning runs to mark the victory for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand, followed by celebrations in the dressing room. 

The video clip captured candid celebratory reactions from the Indian players. Skipper Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir, Shubman Gill, Kuldeep Yadav, and Virat Kohli were all seen celebrating the famous win. Pant shared light-hearted moments with Kohli, Shreyas, Axar while filming them at the same time. But what made it go viral was Rohit Sharma’s remark about his retirement at the end of the video. Some jokingly suggested that he should retire from ODIs now. Rohit Sharma, in response, said that he isn’t going to retire from every format just because he has won an ICC trophy. 

“Kya? Retirement lelu? Har baar jeetega toh mai thodi retirement lete rahunga?”, the Indian skipper said in the video.

Notably, Rohit Sharma retired from the T2OI format after India clinched the T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies. His remark about retiring from ODIs left everyone in splits and was widely loved by fans online.

Rohit Sharma kickstarts preparation for Australia ODIs 

Amid rumours surrounding his retirement from the ODI format, Rohit Sharma has kickstarted his preparation for the ODI series against Australia. He recently posted a picture with Abhishek Nayar working out in the gym. A few days later, video also went viral of the Indian skipper sweating it out in a Mumbai ground, gearing up for his return. 

Rohit Sharma last played an ODI for India on 9th March 2025 in the ICC Champions Trophy final against New Zealand in Dubai. Chasing a 252-run target, Rohit Sharma played a match-winning knock of 76 runs off 83 balls, including seven fours and three sixes. 

Meanwhile, India’s tour of Australia 2025 begins on 19th October 2025 with three ODIs, followed by as many T20 internationals.
