England squad announced for the T20 World Cup 2026
The England Cricket Board (ECB) has officially announced the 15-member England squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Regular white ball skipper Harry Brook will lead the 3 Lions team during the Mega Event. Along with the T20 World Cup, they also announced the T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming Sri Lanka Tour.
Along with Skipper Harry Brook, former skipper Jos Buttler, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Adil Rashid, and Phil Salt maintained their place in the tentative squad following their participation in the 2024 event, where India defeated England in the semifinal. England are the two-time T20 World Champions. They won in 2010 & 2022. Last time, when the T20 World Cup was held in India in 2016, England were the runners-up.
In this team, Will Jacks, Ben Duckett, Liam Dawson, Rehan Ahmed, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Overton, Josh Tongue, Luke Wood, and other names were included in the squad. Josh Tongue is yet to make his white ball cricket debut. Well, he has been included in the T20I squad against Sri Lanka. He is currently playing in the Ashes. He played only 2 matches against Australia, in which he claimed 12 wickets in 4 innings of 2 tests. Thanks to his brilliant bowling performance, England finally managed the tour’s first victory at MCG.
The England team has been struggling consistently in all three formats of the game for the past few years, and they will be hoping to break this trend in the upcoming World Cup. The team has a mix of experienced and young players, but they are not considered among the favourites to win the tournament. England has been placed in Group C alongside Nepal, the West Indies, Italy, and Bangladesh. Harry Brook & Co. will begin their campaign on February 08 against Nepal, followed by matches against the West Indies on February 11, Bangladesh on February 14, and Italy on February 16.
