Team India cricketer Rinku Singh has allegedly been targeted by the underworld in a ransom threat case. According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, members of the notorious Dawood Ibrahim gang—commonly referred to as D-Company—sent three separate ransom demands to Rinku Singh’s promotional team between February and April 2025. The threats reportedly demanded a payment of ₹5 crore. The investigation into the case has led to the detention of two suspects, Mohammed Dilshad and Mohammed Naveed, who were arrested in the West Indies and handed over to Indian authorities on August 1. Both individuals are believed to be associated with D-Company and have prior links to similar extortion cases.

Earlier, they were arrested for attempting to extort ₹10 crore from Zeeshan Siddiqui, the son of the late former MLA Baba Siddiqui. A report from TV9 revealed that during police interrogation, one of the suspects admitted to contacting Rinku Singh’s team with the intention of demanding the ransom. The authorities are now conducting a deeper probe into the extent of D-Company's operations and its ongoing efforts to target high-profile individuals. Security around Rinku Singh has reportedly been reviewed as a precautionary measure amid the ongoing investigation.

Rinku Singh, who rose from humble beginnings in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, has become one of Indian cricket’s most exciting talents. However, his journey to success has not come without challenges off the field. Recently engaged to Member of Parliament Priya Saroj, Rinku’s growing public profile has led to increased security concerns, especially following the recent reports of underworld threats targeting him. On the field, Rinku has made a strong mark in international and domestic cricket. Representing India in 54 T20 Internationals, he has scored 550 runs at an impressive average of 42.31 and a powerful strike rate of 161.77—establishing himself as a dependable finisher in the shorter format. His consistent performances have earned him praise as one of India’s most promising limited-overs players.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rinku Singh has become a key figure for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Over 58 matches, he has scored 1,099 runs, contributing significantly to the team’s success. Notably, he was part of the KKR squad that clinched the IPL title in 2024, further solidifying his reputation as a match-winner. As his cricketing career continues to soar, Rinku now finds himself navigating the challenges that come with stardom and public attention.

Rinku Singh recently smashed the winning runs during the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 final, making an impact in his very first appearance in the tournament. The final against arch-rivals Pakistan saw Rinku contribute with a vital boundary at a key moment, showcasing his calm under pressure. However, the standout performance came from Tilak Varma, who remained unbeaten with a brilliant 69-run knock that anchored India’s successful chase. Together, the duo played a pivotal role in guiding India to a memorable win.
