The defending IPL Champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, not only defeated the Delhi Capitals on their home turf but also exacted sweet revenge for their defeat at home last week by utterly decimating their opponents. In the DC vs RCB IPL 2026 clash held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, RCB's bowlers dismantled the DC batting lineup like a house of cards. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3 for 5) and Josh Hazlewood (4 for 12) wreaked havoc right from the very first ball, denying DC's top order even a chance to settle in. DC had lost their first six wickets for a mere 8 runs. At that juncture, it appeared as though DC was on track to break RCB's record for the lowest-ever IPL total—49 runs; however, Abhishek Porel, played as an impact player (30), David Miller (19), and Kyle Jamieson (12) saved the team from registering this ignominious record, as the side was eventually bowled out for 75 runs in 16.1 overs. Chasing a modest target of 76 runs, RCB achieved victory in just 6.3 overs, losing only one wicket in the process.

With this victory, RCB's chances of reaching the playoffs have significantly improved. The team now has 12 points after 8 matches and is just two wins away from securing a spot in the playoffs. On the other hand, DC has suffered three consecutive defeats in their last three matches and, with 6 points, has slipped to seventh.

In this DC vs RCB contest, numerous records were registered by both teams. On one side, the RCB team achieved several new milestones, while on the other, some unwanted records were added to DC's name.

The Delhi Capitals recorded their third-lowest total. Before this, DC had been bowled out for 66 runs against the Mumbai Indians and 67 runs against the Punjab Kings during the 2017 IPL season. DC also set an IPL record for scoring the fewest runs and losing the most wickets during the Powerplay phase. In the Powerplay, DC posted a score of 13/6. Previously, this record was held by the Rajasthan Royals, who had scored 14/2—also against RCB—during the 2009 IPL.

DC became the second team to lose 6 wickets during the Powerplay; before this, the record was held by Kochi Tuskers Kerala, who had lost 6 wickets for 29 runs during the Powerplay in the 2011 IPL season. In that match, KTK lost their first six wickets in just 11 runs in the first 4 overs.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru recorded their second-fastest victory in terms of balls remaining. They chased down a target of 76 runs in just 6.3 overs. The record for this feat is held by the Mumbai Indians, who defeated KKR in IPL 2008 with 87 balls to spare.

In this match, Virat Kohli completed his 9,000 IPL runs, becoming the first batsman to achieve this milestone. He now has 9,012 runs in his IPL career. To achieve this, he has played 275 matches and 267 innings at an average of 40.15 and a strike rate of 133.05, including 8 centuries and 66 half-centuries, with a best score of 113*. Now, he will have the chance to become the first man in IPL history to complete 10,000 runs in the upcoming matches.
