Check Out the complete list of IPL 2026 awards winners
For the third time in IPL history—following the Chennai Super Kings (2010 & 2011) and Mumbai Indians (2019 & 2020)—the Royal Challengers Bengaluru have won two consecutive titles. They defeated the Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets in the IPL 2026 final, making history once again by clinching the championship in Ahmedabad. The hero of this victory was Virat Kohli, who gave RCB and their fans reason to celebrate with an unbeaten knock of 75 runs off just 42 balls. His innings featured 9 fours and 3 sixes.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar won the toss and invited the Gujarat Titans to bat first. His decision proved to be astute when, in just the third over of the innings, captain Shubman Gill returned to the pavilion after scoring 9 runs, placing GT under pressure right from the start. GT continued to lose wickets at regular intervals, preventing the team from posting a substantial total. Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler also appeared to be under immense pressure throughout the match. Washington Sundar scored a half-century (50) to guide the team to a total of 155 runs, a target that RCB chased down in just 17 overs.
Virat Kohli remained unbeaten until the very end, ultimately securing the victory for his team with a boundary followed by a match-winning six. For RCB, Rasikh Salam Dar was the top wicket-taker with 3 wickets, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood claimed 2 wickets each; Krunal Pandya took 1 wicket.
RCB played like champions throughout the entire season, losing only five matches in total. They topped the league stage and reached the final after comprehensively defeating the Gujarat Titans by 92 runs in Qualifier 1; their dominance continued in the final as well.
After the match, Captain Rajat Patidar thanked RCB fans for their support and credited the entire team management and the fans for the victory.
