The BCCI have announced the 15-member India women’s squad for the highly anticipated Women’s World Cup 2025, scheduled to take place from 30th September to 2nd November. Harmanpreet Kaur is set to lead the side, while Smriti Mandhana will be her deputy. Hosts India will begin their campaign on 30th September with the clash against Sri Lanka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Indian team’s mainstays Smriti Mandhana, Pratika Rawal, Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Richa Ghosh will form the batting line-up. There was uncertainty over Shafali Varma’s inclusion in the squad due to her mixed run of form. Since her return against England, she registered scores of 3, 47, 31, and 75, but faltered in the Australia A series with twin failures (3, 3, 41). She has been left out of the squad.

Renku Thakur will lead the pace attack, which also includes Kranti Goud and Amanjot Kaur. Renku Thakur’s availability was a major concern because of her injury. She hasn't played any competitive games since March. She has been rested for the upcoming ODI series against Australia but is picked for the World Cup. As for spin, Deepti Sharma should lead the spin attack. She will be accompanied by Sneh Rana and Radha Yadav. The spinners will have a major say in the tournament, considering the subcontinent conditions in India.

Here’s a look at the Indian women’s team’s complete squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025:

Harmanpreet Kaur (Capt), Smriti Mandhana (VC), Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Renuka Singh Thakur, Arundhati Reddy, Richa Ghosh (WK), Kranti Gaud, Amanjot Kaur, Radha Yadav, Sree Charani, Yastika Bhatia (WK) and Sneh Rana

India reserves for the Women's World Cup: Tejal Hasabnis, Prema Rawal, Priya Mishra, Uma Chetry, Minnu Mani, Sayali Satghare

“Personally, this tournament is very important for me. This is a home World Cup. Home World Cups for special for every player. I have a lot of experience batting at No.4, I am just looking to contribute for the team,” Harmanpreet Kaur told the media on Tuesday.

“We are really excited for the World Cup. We are having training camps. We are preparing ourselves mentally and physically,” she added.

The Indian women’s team beat England 2-1 in their last ODI series. Harmanpreet Kaur top-scored with the bat for India with 126 runs, including a match-winning hundred in the series decider. Kranti Goud’s sensational spell of 6 for 52 in the third ODI helped her top the wickets chart with 9 wickets in the series. Prior to that, India also won the tri-series against the likes of Sri Lanka and South Africa.

India met Sri Lanka in the final in Colombo. A stunning century from Smriti Mandhana powered India’s total to a massive 342 in the first innings. Sri Lanka, in reply, were folded for 245. Sneh Rana and Amanjot Kaur were the top performers with the ball, claiming seven wickets between them. India began the year 2025 with a dominating 3-0 win over Ireland in January. They haven’t lost a single ODI series this year and will be eager to carry the winning momentum into the World Cup.
