Asia Cup: Why is Litton Das not playing the India vs Bangladesh Super 4 match?

Bangladesh have boosted their chances of reaching the Asia Cup 2025 final with a vital Super 4 win over Sri Lanka. Their fate, however, largely depends on the India vs Bangladesh Super 4 clash. The Men in Blue are yet to be beaten in the sub-continental tournament. For Bangladesh to challenge India, it will take a record-breaking effort. However, a shadow has been cast over their crucial clash. Bangladesh have fielded as many as four changes in their lineup for the match against India. Meanwhile, the Bangla Tigers have been left without their skipper, Litton Das, in Dubai.

As action kicked off in the India vs Bangladesh Super 4 clash, Jaker Ali came out for the toss. Litton Das injured his back while training for the high-stakes fixture. While the Bangladesh captain came out on the field ahead of the match, Das did not train or take any drills, returning to the dressing room after a brief conversation with the team physio. In his absence, Jaker Ali has been handed the team’s command in Dubai.

“We would like to bowl first. He (Litton) got injured during a practice session and unfortunately misses out on this crucial game. I am excited and looking forward to this game. We are doing really well as a team and we will try to give our best. We will try to restrict them and chase it down. Surface looks pretty good to bat. We have got four changes," Jaker Ali said following the toss.

Winning the toss, Jaker Ali opted to bowl first against India in Dubai. Moving ahead, he informed that the Bangladesh Playing XI has made four changes, including the replacement of Litton Das. The likes of Mahedi Hasan, Shoriful Islam, and Taskin Ahmed have been rested for the match. The move by Bangladesh possibly hints at their plans to go all out against Pakistan. Gauging India’s form in the Asia Cup 2025, Bangladesh are likely relying on their contest against Pakistan to aim for the final spot. The India Playing XI remains unchanged.

“It looks a good surface. I think we played here on the 14th (vs Pakistan), and in the 2nd innings it became a little slower. So we are very happy to bat first. At the same time, you have to follow what you’ve been doing, all the good things from the last few games. We just want to focus on that, and the result will automatically take care of itself. I think both departments have done their bit, and that’s completely fine. I’m sure the energy and intent will define this match. It's much pleasant (weather). We’re playing the same team," Suryakumar Yadav said.
